Is this ok for a lipo box?

Recommended Posts

I've been trying to learn about LiPo. I've watched and read a few dos and don'ts about it and so my first order was finding a storage/charging box for it should I decide to buy a pack or two (provided I find a rounded case)... so i found this metal cash box and an old Craftsman toolbox. I was wondering if this can be used as a charging and storage box. Thoughts?

That should definitely work. Have you watched any YouTube vids of Lipo’s going bad? They tend to burn rather than explode, so being able to contains the burn is what you will be trying to achieve

That looks good to me. It's relatively thick steel. It also doesn't have an air tight seal so it will safely release the pressure in the event of a meltdown.

Thanks for the replies. So far I only have one 2SLipo. A Duratraxx 5000mah that I only charge when I'm nearby. I've only been using it to store the batteries, but I still charge the lipo on my work table since I dont have a wire long enough to feed into the case.
