Quick question hopefully with a quick answer

can i run a sensored motor without the sensor wire from a sensorless ESC?

speed passion motor and a quicrun ESC?

p.s. the reason I’m asking as my MOnster Beetle is playing up.

Intermittent power and sometimes no response. I’ve swapped Tx and Rx and gonna try a different ESC

I seem to remember reading that the 3rd wire doesn't have to be connected using a sensorless ESC - this is a brushless pupil chipping in here - be gentle !!

Unfortunately incorrect, you need all 3 wires for brushless. You just don't need the sensor cable.

Goolrc combos are popular, I have little experience myself.

I like these
https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/OCDAY-Brushless-Electronic-Speed-Controller-ESC-for-1-10-RC-Car-Accessories/193288536195

although prices are high at the moment, I pick them up when they are £13 -15. I have had one on an 8.5t in a stadium blitzer unsensored and I run one on a 10.5t speed passion sensored motor on 2s in my top force. They are copies of old hobbywing products, often the firmware is the same so you can use HW programming cards with them. I also really like these for quality and reputation

But I can't justify the cost these days, plus I seem to remember them being around the 35 mark when I bought one.

Honestly, the TBLE-02s is an awful brushed controller but very respectable as a brushless ESC. I am very satisfied with the one  I have in my Boomerang.

So this is what had happened - my beetle was glitching badly

tried a 3s in it and was still glitching and speeding off on its own and sometimes steering not working (like id lost power)

So swapped to a new tble-02s and pop - it defo didn’t like the 3s

got a 2nd hand quicrun on the way

Yanked the sensor lead out of a S/P 6.5t motor ,mid race, running a 10bl120 esc, and the only difference I noticed, was the cable dragging behind! 🙄😂😂

The 10BL120 is a dual-mode ESC which automatically switches to sensorless operation if it doesn't detect sensor input.

The TBLE-02 on the other hand is sensored-only in brushless mode, and doesn't know what to do with itself if it can't detect sensor input, so flashes an error code.

Well I’m hoping my speed passion isn’t fried and it was the TBLE that popped and smelt funny

beetle with brushless and 3s was interesting for a few minutes

the gearbox brace had no issues handling that power
