TB02! And go.....

Recommended Posts

So I may have accidentally won a TB02 in fair decent condition off EBay.

As most people are aware it's the TB01 that is my thing and I will admit to have no real knowledge of the TB02. I know it came as TB02. TB02R and TB02D.

It will be used as a light very light runner but mostly as a chassis to house a body I've not yet bought.

Any need to know bits of info for this chassis?

I'm no expert in tb02's but it's a decent chassis especially the R.

I'd say it's the best looking tub type chassis.

Advice! 🤔

Careful with hop ups! There's a lot😳

When I was considering my first TB, I was warned that the TB-02 drivetrain needs very careful shimming and setup, not because it is too loose, but rather because the one-piece propshaft combined with a somewhat flexible chassis can lead to binding. I held fire until I could get a TB-03, so I can't speak from personal experience whether this is true or not.

More flex in the chassis than the TB01? Must be. As the 01 uses a one piece prop like the 02 and the 01 couldn't flex if it tried. Lol.

There is a very nice upper SSG plate for the 02 that I have spied on eBay

That's the plate which sits in the recess underneath the chassis.

Still, if it stiffens the chassis, it might solve the binding issue...

Will just be a fancy thing to add. Will be only getting light use if any. Might turn it into an R with hop ups and shelf it with a Ferrari body

So I just bought a TB02 from eBay on a whim. I know it's a little dated, and the ball diffs are a love/hate thing, but the price was too good to pass up. Curious if anyone has any advice for this chassis? I'm in this hobby more for the builds than the running, but I always like to hear other people's experiences. Thanks!

Having done more research... its quite easy to turn them in to a TB Evo 3 if you feel like going down that route.

Check out the build section or build technique section. There is a TB02 being built in there
