One of the main reasons I am doing this is to improve the profile of the club as well........it is a "swings and roundabouts" type of thing..........more people read the mag and subscribe to it - more people find out about the club.......you know what I mean.

Cheers

i'm just waiting for Tamiya to build the Fugliest Buggy of all time.

they already have the molds for the body and have could easily re-release the chassis.

they could drop a Bullhead body onto the Frog chassis and call it the Bullfrog.

you gotta admit, THAT would be fugly.

as for the top 10, maybe some pics would help get more votes from us "great unwashed"? not all of us can tell the difference between a Sonic Fighter and a Mad Fighter (or a Bull Fighter?) from memory...

Now then..play nicely! There's NOTHING wrong with the Sonic Fighter (apart from the styrene chassis that always broke just behind the front suspension mounts unless you boiled the chassis) I used to race one with a Range Rover bodyshell and a Kyosho (SPIT) Optima Turbo wing on, and used to beat Meteors and Topcat's every now and again. And that was indoors on pinspikes! PS If anyone has a Sonic Fighter up for sale, let me know!

Well if I had my way it would be:-

1) Cox Bandito

2) Cox Bandito

3) Cox Bandito

4) Cox Bandito

5) Cox Bandito

6) Cox Bandito

7) Cox Bandito

8) Cox Bandito

9) Cox Bandito

10) Cox Bandito

...but since I dont make the rules then :-

1) Cox Bandito (surprise!)

2) Tamiya Bullhead ( a chopped up truck cab on monster wheels..whaaaaattt??!!)

3) Tamiya Fighter Buggy (did they run out of lexan that year or summat???!!)

4) Tamiya Saint Dragon (see above!)

5) Nichimo Luminous (looks really nice...after downing copious amounts of LSD)

6) Tamiya Sonic Fighter (a collection of Mr Tamiya's waste parts bin perhaps???!!)

7) Aristocraft Kangaroo (would be really impressive..if it could do hops and hold mini Aristocraft Kangaroos in its pouch)

8) Tamiya Manta Ray (Conversation overheard at Tamiya HQ - "I know...lets drive a real size car over the middle of this buggy..and we'll call it the Manta Ray!")

9) Tamiya Striker (Is it a bird, is it a plane..actually what the badword is it??? It's a Tamiya Striker!!)

10) Traxxas TRX-1. (The most pointless use of Lexan in the history R/C???)

Thanks for all those have taken the time to vote, however I think it unlikely that I will get the article up and running with this few votes on the final 12....

Sincere thanks to all those who have contributed.

I disagree with you also Pete. The Wildone was the last of the realistic buggies. With a little effort they can look really cool. I have some really cool plans for mine.

I second that. I love the exposed roll cage look. For me, one of the best looking buggies Tamiya ever released

I heartily disagree with all of my heart.

I dont consider any Tamiya ugly..as in "so ugly the tide wouldnt take it out" ugly.

but to choose a Tamiya it would have to be the Fighter buggy RX/Rookie Rabbit

Its not offensive ugly...its just too odd?

the car looks like it should be short..then they remembered it had to have a rolling live axle at the back...it just looks stuck on?

add the comic decals (i know its aimed at kids...kids who like weird rabbits?) and the box art shouts WEIRDO

i am cleansed...

Yeah in the early 80s, there were a few strange attempts to blend vintage car styles with buggies. That one is the most disturbing.

A couple of toys I've seen over the years.

A hideous 1990s re-release of the fairly nice 1987 Atcomi Beetle in my Avatar...

And the Taiyo Raccoon...a sort of Landcruiser mutant with 6 wheels.

That Jeep is lolworthy.

Anyway. my top 10 as the D-man requests:

10. CC01 Jeep - Looks like it's gone into a gutter at 80km/h and driven the front axle back a foot.

9. Ishipa Monster - That is what happens when you use a chassis from one car and a body off a totally different one.

8. Monogram Lightning - Cross breed of a Hotshot and an inflatable house brick

7. Royal Ripper - The roof is for the rear monoshock. I'll just sit out front and chauffeur it from here.

6. Royal Crusher, Varicom Big Grizzly and all of the Kyosho Tracker fun cars... When you can jump a race buggy over the chassis and not clip the bottom of the bodyshell, YOUR DOING IT WRONG!!!!

5. Panda Pandamonium - You are supposed to wear a Powerdrome, not drive it around by remote control.

4. Yokomo Dogfighter - That's where I left my helmet visor.

3. Kyosho USA1 electric version - Body wheelbase 11", chassis wheelbase 9 3/4"

2. Kyosho Gallop/Progress - Obviously inspired by a roadside wreck seen in Mad Max 2

1. Madcap - Hideous with the body on or off

nice chassis, but the looks are ruined by the woeful body. maybe some speed holes would save it . . . .

Saw this coming. That body looks awful .. What kind of mystical spirit/god is the Zahhak?? A Dragon?
