Hi All, I've recently built my first kit, a Blitzer Beetle, and haven't stopped fiddling, bashing and smiling since. I took it out for a drive this morning and lost one of the screws (and brass bush) from the bottom of the front suspension mount, which leads me to a couple of questions :

  1. The screws that go into the lower arms, already feel "loose" when doing them up. How do you secure the screws that go into plastic parts? Obviously metal on metal you would use thread-lock but not sure it works on metal/plastic.
  2. The kit came with one spare brass bush (part BC5) but if I loose this one, what do people typically use instead? (or can you pick up spares of just these parts?)

 Thanks in advance :)

It's unusual for screws in to plastic to wander off. Especially the course self-tappers. Suggests they might have been over-tightened and the plastic has given up?

This is the fix I've used in the past -

Drill out the hole with the stripped thread - normally I use around a 4mm or 5mm drill bit.

Glue in a piece of scrap parts tree, allow to dry and then trim if needed.

Drill a new hole around 2.5mm but no bigger than 3mm and you should now be able to put the screw back in and it shouldn't fall out.

Some silicone grease may help the screw go in wasier.

For oil CVA Tamiya shocks I'd always recommend using ball connectors instead, longer thread ones for the bottom arms

If the thread is going I'd bond the ball connector in permanently

Or it could be repeated insert and removal without aligning the threading???

Regardless, my fix is to fill the hole with superglue and redrill with a 3/32”, if you’re in the US...
