92192 Tamiya TNS-FD Nissan GT-R

Recommended Posts

I really need to build my Evo 4. Start and finish my TB02. And then I think a TG10 is on the cards. Seeing nitro again is giving me urge to build one or at least restore one.

Did some more work on the engine. Crankshaft, piston and liner in and flywheel fitted. Everything oiled using light machine oil

Carb fitted

Optional heatsink head fitted

Then we have the most important part of a Tamiya engine made by Force. The starter pin. These go in the end of the cranksaft with a spring an engage the starter shaft. Tamiya don't sell them seperately so you have to buy the spring, pin and starter shaft. However, top tip, Force do so you can buy them and they fit.

Once that's in place and oiled the backplate can go on

And just like disassembly you can lock the piston and fit the pilot shaft, clutch and clutch bell. I used two new bearings

last things I need to do are reapply the carb logo with glue and then clean the recoil and fit it back on.

Almost there, more to come soon

Few more bits done. Despite not needing it for this car the old FS-12FD head was cleaned, sanded and repainted. Now goes in the spares drawer.

Started the exhaust. Lots of very tedious cleaning

Nearly there now, just needs a polish. New Gasket ready for fitting to the engine.

Still havent got the springs in, COVID delays I guess. Wheels and tyres are fitted now. More soon

So, the missing yellow springs finally turned up and i finished the chassis.

IMG-6423.jpg

I used an XB body to set the height etc and to get an idea of he look of the final kit.

IMG-6424.jpg

I quickly realised that the XB body had an antenna hole in the wrong place and that the mirrors and spoilers were painted.

So another Nissan body was sourced and will be painted by me...

Almost there now!

So I finally got the body painted and finished. I ended up painting the mirrors and wing silver and whilst not technically perfect as per the XBG it does look better. I think I can call this one done.
