Good Morning Gang,

Moved to Utah, USA!!!! And there are alot of tracks accesible.  Id like to get into the action again here and there.  Will a Durga with a Slipper, Good shocks, and a nice brushless/lipo set up still be able to hang with the new stuff? Not into all the cab fwd stuff, dont even need to get 1st, just want to be in the fight.  Id love to get a RRR or TRF5XX but as always when the economy sucks RC Sales go up and they are now all gone, I can only find Durbas now.

Durgas are so underrated.  They are fantastic buggy

I think the main thing that would determine whether it could keep up would be the track you run it on.  It was released in 2007 so would be designed for tracks that were around then.  If you're looking at running on high grip carpet it would probably cost you a few seconds a lap compared to a new buggy.  If you find an older style track (no idea what was most common then though) then it would still do ok.  I switched from a Lazer ZX6 to HB D418 and gained 2 seconds a lap instantly (~42sec laps), and that was with the same electronics swapped from the Lazer to the D418.  A D413 is older than the Lazer and people are still running those, and they're faster than a Lazer too on dirt.  The Lazer is more of a carpet car so would still be faster on carpet compared to the HB, which is more of a dirt car (we run on dirt).  Differences are weight distribution and centre diff instead of a slipper, otherwise they are similar quality cars.

In saying that, some of the fast guys at my club would beat me with a Hornet, so if you're fast you could still be a front runner with a Durga.

Anyone have a line on ANY of the R models or at least one of the R chassis, id like to mount a Square lipo due to availability.  The DB01 is the cheapest "competitive" buggy now. The Lossi and Associated are near $500 here in America.

Only the RR and RRRs chassis are square lipo compatible and like rocking horse poo in terms of availability (parts and kits)

The standard and high traction chassis can be modified to take square batteries though

Keep an eye on Amain. A couple of months ago they had the HB D418 and the Tekno EB410 for $349 on sale. If you want to get into racing I would talk to the people at the local track and see what they run and see if you can find a deal on one. There may be someone selling one too which will already be setup for the track

I keep going back and forth on 2wd vs 4wd same for Tamiya vs everything else.  I recently finished a RC10 worlds build and it's a beautiful driver that I'll use if there is a class for it here.  But one thing I discovered is that I enjoyed Tamiya builds more. When you build a Tamiya there's a sense of quallity that was lacking in the RC10 which I assume is the same with the others.

But I digress DB01/2 is my first choice and I found the RR chassis. But we shall see. On my way to one of the tracks now.

What surface is your local track? if it's carpet the DB01 might be slightly more competitive due to the belt drive, but I would think it would be pretty un competitive on dirt against a modern 4wd buggy. I would find the best tires for the track and put them on the car and start turning laps.
