Hello,

I have a question for the tamiya specialists :D

In my local tamiyacup, there is a class with only these authorized chassis :

"All versions of TA, TB, TT, TL, FF and XV"
(With motor 17.5T or 16T Carson).

I love the XV01 chassis, and I would like to run in this class.

In your opinion, can the XV-01 chassis (eg with Lancia Delta) really follow the others on clean carpet or asphalt tracks ?

Or is it a sweet dream?

If so, what is the best chassis for racing among them? (Not TT02 for sure)

On carpet I'd expect the low-friction belt driven class to be the fastest with like-for-like electronics. The XV01 kind-of fits this group, but it is heavier by virtue of having been designed for off-road, gearboxes are chunky and designed to be sealed from dirt getting into the drivetrain, so they'll have more mass than an equivalent TA chassis.

That said; Tamiya did make the XV01 TC version, without the enclosed drivetrain. Perhaps this would be on-par with a TA chassis car?

TC version isn't too heavy, front heavy maybe and a little bit boring but got decent touring car suspension.

TC version ?

You're right, I didn't necessarily think about the weight.

In this case, the TA07 or TB05 are probably the best choices in this class, depending on prefering belt or shaft.

An XV-01 TC Pro will still be inferior against a TA/TB on an on-road track whether carpet or asphalt. Because the XV has a higher CG compared to the latter.
