My first 3 speed (58372 High Lift Content)

Recommended Posts

Hi all, I've never had a 3 speed, and to be honest, I've never actually ever really wanted a vintage one, I became interested when the new ones were released.

I was in two minds whether to get an NIB, or a used model, I went with used, and picked this up this week :)

Well, that looks like someone cared for it. Nice aluminum bits too. Did it come with the side mirrors?

Cheers mate, yes it came with mirrors, they aren't attached. :)

Also came with lots of other spares, currently trying to work out which bits are standard and which are hop ups!

Think this pic should've come earlier

Before I got to the gearbox I stripped the rest of the chassis.

As I mentioned above the gearbox needed to be rebuilt as it was stuck in first gear, the previous owner had already told me this to be fair.

I fully stripped the box down completely and rebuilt it as per the instruction manual.

There were a couple of errors which stopped the shift rod from moving between the gears.

Having never had a three speed before I enjoyed rebuilding the box and seeing how it all works, was a bit frustrating for a while though.

Forgot to update this thread.

I finished the build, both servos fitted now, such a lovely mechanical build compared to the more plastic based Tamiya.

I even gave it a little run around the kitchen, I know it's not exactly testing the chassis
