I'd have run on it on the current spur gear and replaced it in the future if needed. Build looks good really good. Love the shock idea with the washer.

But every single time I read your threads I am irritated - which is why I don't comment on here mostly.

The way you keep banging on about being a poor veteran. Yes it's not the best situation to be in. I am also a veteran (British Army) and I had to build my Ultimate TB01 piece by piece due to not really being able to afford it in one go.

Most of us on here aren't flushed with cash or have to save before buying kits or parts. Some lucky ones are but they don't rub it in everyone's face.

So personally. Stop with the I'm poor message. It's annoying and we get it.

@TwistedxSlayer I made a lot of mistakes the first time I was on this Forum UNDER A DIFFERENT HANDLE.... I own that.

I don't know if you or anyone else had noticed, but this time around, not ONLY am I using my Real Name, I've only mentioned the fact that I'm a Veteran no more than Once or Twice!!

I'm not, nor have I been "using" my Military status to try to play on ANYONE'S sympathies anymore... That wasn't right, but at the time, I was really backed into a corner - and I DON'T mean not being able to afford a new RC. It was BAD, REALLY Bad. But fortunately we're just above water now.

I'm really sorry I did it in the first place!! It's brought me nothing but dissent and accusations on me. I've CHANGED!! (People CAN) I hope that the rest of you Guys can cut me some slack, please. ...On the subject of IRRITATION, I'm both irritated and disheartened that no matter HOW hard I'm trying to show that I've changed and sincerely feel BAD that I've apparently offended more People than I actually hear about....  I'm STILL treated like I'm trying to SCAM someone!!! 😞😡  Guilty until proven innocent. 😖

Sometimes I just can't help mentioning how hard things are. 11 years ago, I was doing very WELL. Then an unbelievable series of events happened. We were HUNGRY, and I thought I could turn to some friendly People...

By next year, my WHOLE situation is going to change for the better (NO THANKS to my Govt.). Several People have stepped up and gave me some help. THEY did that this time WITHOUT me asking for it.

They will be generously taken care of, even if I have to force them to take it!  I'm going to Gladly pay it Forward to individuals who were in bad situations like I once was. I believe we all deserve a little hand up from time to time....

Thank you for actually approaching me, and not continuing the talk about me, without my knowledge, in private messages, like several still do. I appreciate that.

People are good are offering help without being asked too.

I hope you do get back up to full speed as soon as possible.

I've had my say now.

So let's move on with our toy cars and enjoy them together.

FINALLY peeled off the Body Film! Got to fitting Decals...IMG_20200817_130116.thumb.jpg.2b68f6f3f88288384db054a39b24287a.jpg

I won't bore you with all those details... She's DONE!! 😁  (well, 98%. Still need to do Light Buckets and replace some Gears) IMG_20200817_131343.thumb.jpg.3daa48fc95fdc47c36118d672e1b043d.jpg

But I can at least say the Body is finished, and the Black Backed Mica Red has a whole new vibrance under the Film! 👍👍💯IMG_20200817_130938.thumb.jpg.b79d824d5e6212f0d24c91dc9b2f46e7.jpg

I'm surprised... The Headlight Decals block very little light!IMG_20200817_130437.thumb.jpg.52d9b60c9acaada803a16f9b87b7200f.jpg

The Rear, notsomuch. Maybe with bright LEDs, enough light will show through.

Thanks to everyone who made it this far, and for all your generous support and friendship! 😊

Very cool buildstory so far. I am looking forward to some nice driving shots 😉

Thanks!!😊 I am TOO! If I get the cooperation, maybe even a Video. 😁   To be honest, this isn't the nicest Body I've ever done, but I like it. She should be quite speedy...

And with no Foam Bumpers, there could likely be damage anyway. All part of the Hobby!! 😉

Light Buckets...

The Kit supplied Headlight Buckets, cut out of the Body "scrap". BE CAREFUL when discarding Lexan waste. Some of it MIGHT go with the Body!! 😉

IMG_20200818_155109.thumb.jpg.a763691f44550ee3007171d816c71224.jpg

It DOES actually give some crash protection! Keeps the Paint from flaking on impact...  Also, it's water and light leak proofed the Headlights. 😁

IMG_20200818_155446.thumb.jpg.9c7f3d8bf3641d3761838d5ff2ec0de4.jpg

IMG_20200818_155916.thumb.jpg.d5de246fccf781e4db087a95f89b5355.jpg

Used the same double sided Tape from the Kit to fit the Rear Light Buckets, lined up with the areas I masked off behind the Red part of the Taillights.  (Two pages ago) 😉

IMG_20200818_160531.thumb.jpg.b0c2efb6d5ab47afdac46c4601b03071.jpg

Also for impact resistance and preventing leaks...  I also used the RTV Silicone to hold the Wires against the Rear Deck, to prevent snags when engaging the Rear Magnets! 😉👌

IMG_20200818_161100.thumb.jpg.28ad8668181fdb86a341a60c6dde14ee.jpg

Everything Soldered and Heat Shrink Tubing done...  The Pigtail coming from the Light Wires, has a Plug for an open Reciever Socket. They'll just be on all the time, unless I unplug it, or eventually fit an On/Off Switch.

After the RTV has cured, I can plug it into the Reciever, and TEST the Lights... 😲  I DID test all LEDs before doing all that!! 😜

Got dark enough to see how the Headlights are working...

IMG_20200818_214624.thumb.jpg.7d6b2a18d3997944bf1115917079faa8.jpg

5mm, 0.75 watt LEDs up Front. Typical 5mm LEDs are around 0.3 - 0.5 watts. Hey! I'm in the Arizona Desert... I need LIGHT! 😜😂😄

One Headlight is slightly out of alignment, but I won't call The Rozzers!! 😁😂(One of my favorite Brit expressions!!) The Headlight Lens Decals are quite translucent, and really let the Light THROUGH!! 👍👍

IMG_20200818_214937.thumb.jpg.3c8002cf44a96a72b0d54f574e2ff0b6.jpg

.... Because the Taillight Deckals are BARELY translucent, I used the same high power LEDs in the Rear. The Print on the Decals is just enough, to mute the Light to a more realistic Taillight intensity. BIT of an accident - but it WORKED!! 😁💯😲

...... Just need to get the Gearbox sorted, and She's ready to ROCK!!  (Of COURSE I'll tidy up the loose Wiring) 😉

FINISHING up tidying up the Wiring... 😉IMG_20200819_101314.thumb.jpg.4bf6f66e41a6907ec929b7bc81985621.jpg

The way those upper Rails are on these, I've got several good spots to Zip Tie Wires out of the way of the Steering, and secures everything so it doesn't just flop around!! 😊

IMG_20200819_102111.thumb.jpg.e4483e7b857611fea22bed3a8e343794.jpg

...... Trying to Plug the Light Harness on the Body to the Reciever, slightly under stuff - was clumsy at best, a real PITA at worst!!! 😖😡😡👎    So, I have a box of Servo Leads from defunct Servos....

So I made a 4 inch Extension, Male one end, Female on the other. NOW - the Extension stays Plugged into the Reciever, the Female end is Zip Tied to the Transponder Mount with just an Inch sticking up, to EASILY Plug in the Body!! 💯👍👍😁

IMG_20200819_102508.thumb.jpg.d3bc8a0ea2abc371a6268630ad267d28.jpg

Gotta take the Front End apart AGAIN - to replace the Spur Gear!! 😖 (Hey, I'm getting real good at disassembly!!)😜

I'll fit the Adjustable Front Upper Links, dial in the Alignment - at least until the first Drive.

[OK!!! If I could shoot out an EGG right now, I would!! Feeling Chicken... 😳  I'm starting to second guess myself about running 3S on the Maiden. I need to GET OVER THAT!!!] 😂🍺🍺🍺

TIME to take her apart - hopefully for the LAST time!! 😁 IMG_20200821_104624.thumb.jpg.140dae47977c276c9f182567c32469a3.jpg

I'm absolutely CHUFFED to get this running. In build length.... it's second only to my TT-02, which after 4 YEARS, still isn't done! 😖

The Generosity shown to me since I've been back here, has been nothing short of overwhelming!!! ❤😊💯

I've mentioned this a couple of times, but within a year, something will happen to me. It will CHANGE the rest of my life, and I really look forward to Paying it Forward AND Paying it Back!! 😁

It has to do with the sale of my Great Grandfather's House. It's a 5 Storey Brownstone in Brooklyn. Selling even at the LOWEST Price will have us set! I've only waited 20 years for this... I think I've been patient.

.... wow.... I've been pushed to page three. 😧 I better get this finished!! I've been a bit under the weather, but the other posts here have kept my spirits up! 😉

What still needs doing?

Just replacing the Gears after tearing them up with the wrong Pinion Gear...  Even with the right one in there, it's still a little noisy.

I promised myself that I was going to run it on 3S.... I don't want it to implode!! 😳  Soon, very soon! I've been sick this week, and the Boss hasn't let me work on it. 😖😜

Starting to feel better now!

NEVER ending work - if you're OCD, AND work on Tamiyas!!! 😳😖👌

Well, thanks to several guys on two M08 threads... I learned something invaluable! ✌👍👍  DON'T ALWAYS THINK that a Tamiya Hopup bit will actually IMPROVE something!!!  (98% of the time it does though)

My point here.....   IMG_20200829_072108.thumb.jpg.d68183f2870162eff31509b64c7247f7.jpg

The "Low Friction" Kingpins, that not until I got a Parts Bag A - did I find out that the Shank portion of the Kingpin that actually rides in the C-Hubs... On the Low Friction Kingpins, is almost 1mm SMALLER in diameter than the Stock Kingpins!! 😡

1mm... Not much, huh?? Well on a Car with tiny everything like a M05, it might as well have been a MILE!!  Another problem sorted. 😊

..... So NOW I can proudly say that I've got a M05 with almost ZERO SLOP in the Steering!!! 🍻🍻😁

MAIDEN RUN in the Parking Lot this Morning. Well, 25 Turn Torque Tuned Motor, 18t Pinion Gear, Hobbywing 1060 ESC - on a 3S Batry......

FAST!!! VERY fast! Shot across the Parking Lot like one of my old 8 Turn Triple Modifieds used to. 🏁  tenor.gif.bcddd3068cb8451c480091f12aaf31a2.gif

I just wish I could have gotten my Wife to film it..... AND, NOTE TO SELF - make sure you've GLUED the Tires on first!! 😖

Excellent point regarding the tyres! I calibrated the ESC on my M-08 earlier this afternoon, and the burst of throttle I gave it while on its stand to test that all was well resulted in a rear tyre disappearing rapidly in the direction of our kitchen, closely followed by my cat who thought it was some new and exciting prey to chase...

Glad to hear it's finally a runner! Nothing beats the feeling one gets when a creation comes to life B). Looking forward to some live action vids!

Well done it's been a long time coming to get it finished hopefully we'll see It running soon 👍

Frankly, the longest M Chassis Car Build in History, it feels like!! Of course my own OCD delayed things...

In my mind I couldn't run it with the Front End flopping around like a Fish on the Dock.... I've been spoiled by the solidness of Crawlers - which at 10mph MAX - COULD have slop, but don't!! 😲

Thank you!! And thanks for being part of it too!! I greatly appreciate it. 😊  Video as soon as I can convince my Wife or Son to film.

LOL!!  Similar happened to me... But I guess my big as Cat wanted bigger prey. He just sat there watching it fly by.

But he did say "Meow"!

If you can’t manage video, a photo of the car in the open air will suffice! Let’s see it it sunlight!!!

Glad you have got it running, so much fun after all the work that has gone into it.
