heya after my lockdown hopper and the most recent lunchie, what tamiya kit that is cheap should i buy next?

im thinking of the hornet but not sure, only for using in the garden, i ran out off speccy rx's with the lunchie but i have other 2.4 gear and hopefully spare servos so radio gear isnt a factor or batterys or chargers, basically all i need is the kit and the bearings, what one??????

thought about the rising fighter but it is a bit toy looking compared to the hornet which looks awesome compared to it, got about a week to my next pay day :)

edit: just after a fun to build garden basher doesnt have to be a buggy

Since you have a Grasshopper already why not skip the Hornet and go for a Manta Ray? Its cheaper than the Top Force, will perform almost as well and is 4wd. Or spalsh2out on the Top Force because that looks so much better

All of them if U have the room to display and the money...

and an understanding wife.

LOL

im sorted on that front, found out last year that im autistic and im single, also still in my parents house, dad is a bigger rc head than me, mum can display jesus statues about as long as dad gets to display some rc models lol

nah the manta ray looks a bit spacey for my liking, prefer the look of original grass hopper a lot, got a db-01 that also looks spacey, nothing that looks like a rocket ship lol

maybe i can save up and get a clod buster just because, thinking of one of these as well https://www.modelsport.co.uk/tamiya-land-rover-defender-90-cc01/rc-car-products/432309  :)

edit: only for use in garden, got some mad stuff for use out side of garden, hyper 7,hyper vse 4s, 6000 kv rustler on 2s etc

i was thinking hornet but that defender looks pretty sweet and easy to chill out with like my ww2 corvette boat, 3 2700 nimhs in my boat with weights and plasticine it sails good and slow :)

Yeah know...

The TT02B gives u a lot of options and is not that expensive to get into.   I enjoy that chassis a lot.  I'd look into that one and chose a suitable  body - IE either a Neo Scorcher or Plasma Edge or something else that fist.

Just my 2 cents worth..

My Apologies - in that UR thread was what ReRe should I get next and a TTO2B is certainly not a ReRe.

Considering you already have a Hopper and a Lunchie, I think a logical advance would be towards the Frog Chassis - either the iconic Frog itself of its cousin, the Blackfoot.

Take care and have a great time coming up with UR next build.

You need an SRB in there somewhere. Should get the ReRe Sand Scorcher while it's still available and before Ebay grossly inflates the prices of the kit.

If you can find a Novafox, it is a great looking buggy and will perform much better than your Grasshopper. You can turn your Grasshopper into a Hornet fairly easily if you want.

If this helps tip you, here is my Sand Scorcher re-re. I am a huge Original Wild Willy fan, so did not go with the box art. I went with a "tribute" tipping my hat to the original wild willy. Even to the point of putting Willy as the driver.. ;)  It is a fun car to build and run. The 2nd picture is with Brat wheels & tires.

they look pretty awesome  :D

edit : gonna have to take a miss on the sand scorcher as much as i think it is awesome, a bit pricey, thinking about 200 max budget for the car, just wish most stuff wasn't out of stock at the moment, think the nova fox is winning, don't suppose there will be another release of the wild one any time soon? the first rc car i ever touched was a wild one in the hall cupboard and i was fascinated even though it was in bits when i was about 3  :)

edit 2 : if i ever come into money the sand scorcher is near the top of my list for things to buy and only if you paint it for me, i suck at the painting lol

Fair enough. How about make your own "re-re-re". I built a Wild Willy 3.0 using a GF01 4x4 chassis from a Tamiya "Heavy Dump" and mounted an original WW M38 body on it. Also as a tribute as a "Fantasy" build. I call this one "Son of Willy".. ;)  Absolutely love this thing. Much more stable than the original Wild Willy. Still does the crazy wheelies, but can also do 4x4 crawling. Tons of fun to run. It is the one on the left. On the right, my 1982 Wild Willy SWB.

Thanks, I am happy with how Son of Willy turned out. You can tell they are father and son. Son of, looks just like his Dad.. ;)

my budget has decreased, got paid earlier and i spent about 70 odd quid on rc basics plus some oil shocks for my lunchie, 2 weeks from now will be a different story  :)

got motor brushes coming, led lights, lipo sack, motor wires and connectors, Overlander JST BEC to Hubsan X4 Converter Lead, then i can charge my little 2s lipos for my 24 scale sct, Tamiya Shaft Bag  has the suspension mounts, 4 of these Fastrax 1/10th 75mm Aluminium Adjustable Shocks and Fastrax White Headlights (pair) plus some thread lock blue and a spare fan for my triton truck.

there is probably more but im drunk again lol

rc is expensive but worth it, the wee front led's were 2.50 quid a pop for a pair bought 2 as dad has finished building his pumpkin tonight and they should be awesome going about together with front lights :)
