Interesting indeed! With the possibilities that 3D printing offers, the benefit might be limited, but you could possibly still find some inspiration in Hot Trick's Fox pan chassis conversion although it's 30+ years old. Google "Hot Trick Tamiya Fox" and a lot of images will pop up.

Back then, a friend of mine had a Hot Trick Fox with most modifications and I had quite a few Hot Trick parts in my Hotshot 2 and Optima, so I have some experience with partially poor designs from Hot Trick, whereas others were pretty good.

Below just two examples:

Does it need a top deck or is the bottom stiff enough? Looks like it would be wanging all over the gaff.

This is really interesting to me, you've probably seen it already but Factory Works made one similar to their Hotshot one about a year ago but it has been discontinued.  It might give you some ideas for your chassis design.

I contacted Factory Works a few weeks ago asking if they would make any more as I'm really keen to do this kind of upgrade to my NovaFox.  They said that it was a tricky kit for their customers to fit and so it had been discontinued.  I do wonder though if there were a few of us that wanted to buy it then they could maybe be convinced to re-release them.

Here is one of the pictures of the prototype from the Factory Works Facebook page:

It's such a shame they didn't seem to sell it for very long, I just hope with the rumoured re-re-release of the NovaFox coming soon they'll bring it back out.

I was also thinking of implementing an upper deck for better stiffens, would be a good idea.

Yea that is a very nice kit frame to bad the discontinued them, I didn't know there was rumors for a re-release novafox, pretty cool. I think the fox is one of my favorite buggies.

Interesting idea but not for me. To me , what make the Fox so special is the fully dust and splash proof chassis that no other buggy at the time had. (SS, RR, Ranger was long discontinued) Nova Fox sadly uses foam block on the front servo to keep the elements out instead of fully sealed system used on the original Fox.

you make a strong point, I also loved the sealed tub design that kept all your electrons safe. I also loved that rubber seal that the original fox had so I made a replica in CAD and plan to cast them in a mold with a black rubbery resin

I might sell them if they turn out.

Nice one Griffbolt! but if I remembered correctly, it also needed a longer servo horn sleeve , a metal pin and some extra part to make it work with the rubber seal at least on the original Fox.
