MischMaster 1 Posted August 10, 2020 Hi, I wonder why my Neo Scorcher does not center the steering. https://vimeo.com/446593749 Servo is Carson 500502025 Servo CS-13 MG (12kg, 0.13 sec, metal gears). Should be strong enough. Maybe you can see it in the video, the servo mount is moving slightly when steering. Stock plastic steering is super wonky. Also the wheels are wonky. I tightened all screws quite strong but that doesn't help.
Tony Sutton 8 Posted August 10, 2020 Link didn't work but this one worked - https://vimeo.com/446593749 Possible servo on the way out? How old is it?
TurnipJF 9192 Posted August 10, 2020 My prime suspect would be the servo saver. The steering linkages themselves might be binding, contributing to the issue, but if the servo saver spring is weak, it won't center even with perfect linkages.
MischMaster 1 Posted August 10, 2020 The servo is pretty new. 2 months maybe. I didn't knew that there is a spring in it. Or do you mean the plastic ring in it? Do you think that replacing the whole steering by aluminium parts would help?
TurnipJF 9192 Posted August 10, 2020 I would start with a high torque servo saver. Part number 51000. A ballraced alloy steering rack is also nice, but I wouldn't go for alloy track rods. Steel ones are stronger.
MischMaster 1 Posted August 10, 2020 Ok.... cool... Yeah Racing offer steel track rods... YR-TT02-012... Maybe also alloy servo mounts will help... Thx
TurnipJF 9192 Posted August 10, 2020 Alloy servo mounts are also nice, but won't make as much difference as the servo saver and steering rack upgrades I wouldn't think. Mine centers perfectly and still has the plastic ones. They do look pretty though!
