So as part of this new big writing project, I'm taking an inventory of all my hobby-related stuff. The NIB static models are easy; I have them all in a spreadsheet with notes on condition (yes, really). Guitars, no problem; there are only five. Big cars, also easy, two. But it's been a long time since I sat down and really took inventory of my RC stuff.

Here it all is...

Runners and run-ables

Tamiya Wild Willy 2
Tamiya Honda City Turbo
Carisma SCA-1E scaler - "Goonies" Jeep tribute
Kyosho Scorpion re-issue
Kyosho Turbo Optima re-issue
ECX Barrage scaler with Tamiya Jeep YJ body
Bolink Digger with HPI Lancia Stratos body
Tamiya Grasshopper re-issue (in need of an overhaul/refresh)
Associated RC10 original bitsa (sometimes a 10T, constantly tinkered with)

Primarily shelfers

Kyosho Ultima vintage
Kyosho Optima vintage (unfinished - needs paint)
Associated RC10 re-issue
Associated RC10LSO Graphite
Cox Bandido vintage
Tamiya Boomerang vintage
Tamiya Blackfoot vintage
Tamiya Lunchbox re-issue with vintage Midnight Pumkpin body
Scratch-built Land Rover Series III 109
Futaba FX10 vintage (currently disassembled and displayed in original box)
Tamiya TamTech Gear Hornet

Works-in-progress

"Ten-Scorcher" - Associated RC10 with Tamiya Sand Scorcher body - was originally cobbled together, rebuilding properly
Tamiya FAV re-issue - disassembled, needs paint stripped and tub/hood refinished
Tamiya Subaru Brat re-issue - Manhattan Project tribute - half-finished, needs details
Tamiya MF-01X - will be a Kei-class scale 4x4 truck (Daihatsu Hijet or similar)
Tamiya Lunchbox re-issue - driven to death, in need of an overhaul and rebody
Kyosho Progress - arriving soon, will assess condition once I get it

Basket cases

Tamiya DT-02 Sand Rover - in pieces, body painted badly, chassis chopped up
Bolink Legend - bare chassis, no rear axle
Tamiya CC01 Pajero - driven to death, everything but the rear axle is worn out
Traxxas Stampede - in pieces, not entirely sure where it all is anymore
Tamiya M05 chassis - even more scattered than the Stampede, center of chassis hacked up
Hyperdrive pan car - very rough chassis, incomplete
Parma Hemi Coupe - badly botched body, chassis never run - rear axle stolen for Digger

Other significant chunks/components

Pair of RC4WD T-Rex 60 plastic axles, with leaf springs mounted
Pair of Tamiya TLT axles, set up for scaler, front diff open, rear diff locked
Tamiya TLT axle, single, locked diff, locked steering knuckles
RC4WD Gelande II frame with most of the bits and pieces
Axial SCX10 frame, oringial style, with some extra holes
2 Axial transmissions, original style
Chinese Jeep JK hard body, most of floor cut out
Monogram 1/8 scale Camaro model - to convert to RC
Several pairs of assorted shocks
Many sets/pairs of tires of various types
Several Lexan bodies of various types, all painted already
Lots and lots of hardware
Quite a lot of sheet stock - PVC, styrene, etc

Whew. I need to look at this list before I decide I "need" to buy something new. There's a lot of cool stuff in there, just sitting around waiting for me to do something with it. I do have ideas for a lot of it, and I need to write that all down as well, just so I don't lose track of what I want to do, but not tonight. This was enough for now.

That’s a long list & I don’t understand why I can’t see ‘Clodbuster’ on there, surely a mistake?

The mistake was not keeping one of the two I had a couple of years ago... thank you for reminding me... ;)

Today's project: organizing. This is going to be a serious chore. My hobby room/study looks organized at first glance, but I have drawers and bins of random parts that need sorting, half-finished projects scattered across multiple locations in the room, non-hobby-related junk intermingling with the hobby stuff... it's a mess. It was all pretty nice last year after I built my new workbench, but even then I gave up halfway through sorting things and just put them away wherever they would fit.

The goal is to have all the runners in one place, all the projects in another, all the shelfers displayed nicely without any excess junk on the shelves around them, and all the random parts/parts cars sorted by type and function. And all the junk I'll never use and isn't worth anything (broken parts, chopped-up bodies and chassis, worn-out tires, etc) GONE, instead of moving them from place to place.

One thing I have discovered already: I have reached a sort of critical mass of projects and potential projects. I do not need any more, nor do I want any more. I don't have the physical space for any more, and more importantly, I don't have the mental space for anything else. I keep finding bits and pieces and thinking, "Oh yeah, I was going to...", and just finding them makes me want to get back to that project. I don't want to seek out more things to do; I want to do what I already started out to do. I think getting everything in order, so I can more easily see what I have, will help.

Wish me luck...
