just found out that Yeah racing Titanium (i still think it's more aluminum) drilled out fairly easy, i lucked out.

Can't stand when that happens, but when it does it's good practice:D

Titanium is a terrible material for consumer grade screws, as you discovered :)

A steel screw with a dab of grease will tap the thread even in the carbon reinforced plastics. I just screw them in gradually (you can feel the heat building up as it cuts in). If I'm using an aluminium bling fastener then I'll cut the thread with a steel screw first, then install the aluminium screw.

Done it with all my Tamiya since I started and have never had an issue!

I particularly do on re-re models, as it's my view (and that's all it is) that using self tappers makes the plastic more prone to cracking and splitting open. By cutting a thread into the plastic you're making space for the thread to pass through, rather than trying to force a screw in which in time can cause the plastic to split (I'm thinking about things like hotshot gearbox casings.
