I've just bought a new 6V battery to replace the original 7.2V hump battery for my rough rider, but of course I'd forgotton that I've got the original 7.2V battery charger.

Being electrically ignorant, can anyone tell me whether I can safely use the 7.2V charger to charge the 6V battery?

I don't think you can, considering your new battery propably has also a different capacity then the old 1200mAh one, better get yourself a good modern charger.

I would think it depends on the charger. If its an old peak charger it wont corectly peak the new cells most likely and if its an old charger with a timer then the cells will only partially charge.

I would invest in a new charger even to charge old cells. That way you can charge newer cells and get the most out of old cells.
