I need help!!

I'm about to start on a new model. Finding a suitable chassis is difficult enough, but at the moment, I lean towards the CC-01. If nothing else, the rear solid axle and IFS are pretty close to the real thing.

However, does anyone have a recommendation for suitable tires and wheels? Either like it originally had (old photo) or like it has now, after the recent restoration.

Also, I need hub extenders for the rear axle to achieve the 200mm width the body requires. Up front, changing hubs and wheel axles from TA02 to TA01 should get me roughly the right width. I know there exist hub extenders for the CC-01 out there, but where?

Any advice will be highly appreciated!

It's likely that wider hubs won't be needed.  Crawler wheels have more offset than touring wheels.

Wheels, 1.55: https://store.rc4wd.com/155-Wheels_c_58.html

Wheels, 1.9: https://store.rc4wd.com/19-Wheels_c_59.html

Look carefully at tire outer diameters.  I presume 92mm to 115mm OD would be appropriate for your build, given that width will be 200mm.

What's the diameter of the wheels and tires that you are looking for ? I'm sure you've seen these before but if you're willing to ignore the number of lug nuts these two wheels seem to be good fit for each versions.

Is this car 4wd ? How about mounting Bruiser rear axle and a random transmission on XR311 chassis ?

TOOK the words right out my mouth there!! RC4WD Steelies, LOOK like those Wheels, take Paint PERFECTLY, and their "Deep Dish" versions have TREMENDOUS positive offset, and shouldn't need Axle BENDING Hub Wideners!! 😉

Thanks for the input! Good point about the offset. I won't get the body before later today, so though I know that the basic dimensions, I'm a bit unsure what tire and wheel dimensions will look right. I have the feeling that 1.55 will look too small, but I will have to test with 1.55, 1.7 and 1.9 wheels I have to get an impression.

The body will arrive today, so though I know width, length and wheelbase, I'm not quite sure about ideal wheel and tire diameters yet.  I'm not aiming for a 100% true representation of the real thing, so even before I start I'm willing to accept some compromises, like the number of lug nuts, like you mention.

Just like the 1:1 car, the  model will be RWD only. If I base it on a 4WD chassis, maybe with 4WD in reverse to have the possibility of backing out a little more efficiently if it gets stuck. I like the idea with the Bruiser axle though!

Actually, in 1/10th Scale, a 1.55 is a 15.5" Wheel. MUCH closer to the 15" Wheels available back then, than a 1.9 would, which is a 19" Wheel, not available on ANYTHING in the 1970's but Semi Trucks. 😉

It has been answered already, but a few photos sure still won't hurt!

By the way, Garner had a 72 Olds replacing the 70 Olds I want to replicate. Called "Banshee", it was a lot more radical and is possibly the more attractive car to build as a model. However, I don't know about any body that's suitable for modifying into a 72 Olds and also, there is something about the "stockish" look (well, relative) of the 70 Olds Goodyear Grabber that appeals to me more than the Banshee does.

Yes, I know and 1.9" is probably out of question, but until I get the body later today, I won't exclude the possibility that 1.7" wheels may look more appropriate, even if less authentic.

I just checked the dimensions of the 1/1 2nd gen Cutlass and it turns out that the 1/10 body is a bit too wide and the wheelbase quite a bit too short. That may influence the choice of wheels too.
