Thanks for your throughly race reportB). Shurely you had fun.

I'm sorry to hear about your grandfather. My mother in law passed away in April and for my wife it's still hard.

@GrastensSorry to hear about your grandfather and thank you for the nice race report you gave us.

I went out today to get a last attempt as it was dry on a sunday for the first time since november. It was pretty cold (about 2 °C) with a strong wind from the North so I had to warm my hands inbetween runs and before I could change batteries...

Cars did well, better results than on the wet track.

20221204_105005.jpg

Didn't get a picture of the M-05 but that also got a few laps extra on the dry track today compared to the wet track a week ago.

I weighted the cars ready to run, with a 4000Mah 2S Lipo and with a 6000Mah 2S Lipo.

I'll do this again for round 30 of Postal Racing. As those results confirm I'll be using the 6000Mah for practice rounds (longer drive times) and the 4000Mah for "serious" rounds. There's only a 70 gram difference but on a total weight of 200g for the 4000Mah Lipo it's about 33% increase. And it seems it made a difference in lapcount today. As it's the same next round I might even be in the market for some lightweight 2200Mah Lipo's...

Makes sence, it's the whole idea behind Lotus.

I'm gonna get my results in :-)

Wow! Congratulations to our podium @Andreas W @TurnipJF @Tamiyastef! What a round!

I did my highest lap count and thought "surely that will be enough for the top 3," but how you all found the extra laps is impressive!

Great work, everybody :)

Congrats especially @Andreas W & @TurnipJF. I know I'm really pleased with my spot on the podium.

Congrats to everyone who entered and enjoyed or followed and enjoyed,  it was a nice track and the first I tried in both directions just for the fun of it 😀

Already looking forward to the next one.

Wow. That went better than expected. I have never in my life had such a good flow as I had in that single stint. I hadde good feeling on wet the day before, as I suffered a dnf after 4 min.  When the surface was dry the next day the car gave a superb confidence and just was flying. The same goes for me atm.

I can make the next track, but will need over the weekend to finish it.

Testing the next track on the way to work today. We got snow this morning, so we can say the trackwith had to be considered very liberal. Tons of fun, but not so fast.

I think I'll post the track tomorrow:).

So, here I present the old layout of Rudskogen Motorsenter in Rakkestad, as it was from 1990 to total rebuild in 2010. It's a little fiddly in the S-combination from marker 5-7, so I think we have to be a little liberal in regards of outer track limits.

Going clockwise 1, 2, 3,... -probably- or counterclockwise 9, 8, 7,... -unlikely- or are we free to choose? :D

Sorry^_^. Direction is clockwise. Start/finish is directly in front of marker 1.

I was just joking. You have nothing to be sorry about if you can drive so many laps and give us a new challenge this quickly :D. Especially the chicane like section around markers 5, 6 and 7 will demand for some very fine throttle control IMO. Looking forward to this, hopefully the weather stays fine.

I think/hope the course is nice for M-chassis on dry tarmac. Buggy on gravel or snow will rather be all over the place.

Got some practice rounds on the new track today. M-05 and XV-01 on 2S Lipo. Cold but dry. Had a nice time. :D

That 5, 6, 7 curve is just brutal! Surprisingly (to me at least) I had some problems finding a good line around 8 and 9 also. Still lots of room for improvement.

I made the first attempt with the Lancia today. I brought the Golf with me as well,  since the tarmac was partially clear on Saturday. The RX in the Golf found out that it did not want to be bound anymore and I did not bring the binding latch. Not that the Golf would have worked that well,  because there was frost on the surface and it would have been helpless on the kit slicks. I agree that the S-combination 5, 6 and 7 is brutal. I thought about making it more like a slalom, but the design is based on my feeling of the curves after hundreds (if not over 1000) of laps on this circuit between 1996 and 2010. These curves were brutal in  1:1 and then they have to be within Postal Racing -format as well;)

We had -6C today and I had no glowes, so after 4 min my fingers said no. It was so slippery anyway, so this was more like a testing of the track with more friction than last time. Actually it was more fun with pure snow. That is more predictible, but of course all in all slower.

Tomorrow the temperature should be -11C. I have now found the vagrant-glowes, so one stint should be realistic ^_^.

Hmm. To use my M-chassis cars on a dry surface and try to go for a podium, or use a buggy on slippery ground as an extra challenge and hope for the best? I'll need to ponder this one...

@TurnipJF. I'm with ruebiracer. But on the other hand it would be interesting to see how good a capable M-chassis manned by a capable driver would do. That's if you have access to a dry spot. From what I have seen in the news the UK has got a significant amount of snow, so a buggy would be tempting.

I made 2 stints yesterday in -11C. The whole parking lot was covered in hoar frost, so not a chance to do anything competetive. The goal was to get around without spinning and drive in so fine lines as possible. Yes the grip is homogenic, but it's not so much of it. I prefer snow on dry tarmac (like I had on the test last week). That is in my opinion the perfect combination of slidability and grip, so the car actually responds good to your inputs instead of just sliding around. Flicking it at the end of the straight before marker 4? On snow yes B). On hoar frost :Forget it.

Out in -6, that’s dedication @Andreas W 👍🏻

Exact opposite here close to tyre melting 40 degrees C. Either that or it’s torrential rain storms.

If I do get to manage a run, M08 would probably be the weapon of choice 🤔

@Re-Bugged I think that is a sensible choice. Beeing RWD it probably has loads of steering throw (I have never held one in my hand, but would like to own one with a nice Escort MK2-body on top), so you can get nicely round the tight corners.

No time for anything yesterday, but at -12C and 5cm new snow it would have been slidorama anyway.

Think I am mounting the wider axles today instead.

My M08 is a real favourite of mine @Andreas W, they are a treat to build (and drive) being the nicer reinforced plastic chassis parts compared to the basic kits. Only downside is you need to fit a more expensive low profile servo as a standard size doesn’t fit & no tyres in the kit either.

I highly recommend one if it’s on your wish list.

M07 I believe are great to if you prefer front wheel drive.
