The postal races were started in order to give us something fun to do while the Coronapocalypse keeps us from our usual RC activities, and as such has very few rules as we want it to be as inclusive as possible. 3.  Choose the car(s) that you are going to run. You can enter as many different cars as you wish. You can run any combination of chassis, motor and battery you like, as well as any body style, but please run with a body of some description rather than a naked chassis. This is a family-friendly forum after all! 

4.  Run your car(s) around the track for 5 minutes while counting your laps, and when the 5 minutes have elapsed, finish the lap you are on and count that too. Optionally, you can also measure and submit your fastest lap time. Keep these to yourself - don''t share them on the forum while the round is in progress. At the end of the round, the results will be collated and posted in this thread.

5.  Once you have recorded your best lap total for each car that you want to enter for the current round, submit your results by means of the Google Form found at https://forms.gle/1xzhEZAPsWDeez6D8, including the following details for each entry:

• lap count
• forum username
• chassis (and shell if you wish)
• motor
• battery
• track surface
• running weight (optional)
• fastest lap (optional)

6.  The person with the highest lap count wins the honour of choosing the next round's track layout. This can be one of their own design, or one suggested by another entrant. (Everyone is encouraged to suggest a track layout if they wish, and the winner does not have to design a layout if they don't want to.) When the track layout has been decided, the next round begins and we do it all over again!

 

During the round, you are encouraged to share experiences, advice, photos, etc, but please remember not to give away your lap counts or times before the Grand Reveal at the end of each round. Also, feel free to invite and/or challenge others to join in the fun. The more the merrier!

Well done @Andreas W, @TurnipJF and @Ferruz! Close racing at the top. 

I did have a couple of goes earlier in the month but forgot to come back to the thread and post my counts up. Anyway, I was waaaaay off the pace. I only clocked 2 or 3 runs but I reckon I drove it enough to know that even if I'd got a good clean run in I'd have been quite a few laps behind the top spots despite also running an XV-01. 

And as for 37 laps with a Mid. Wow. 🤯

Congrats to @Andreas W and @TurnipJF for taking podium places! I had no more progress on my last three runs, all the same lap count as submiited. @Andreas W do you mind sharing what pinion (number of teeth)  you're using? I'm also very impressed by the lap counts for the Mid, Hornet and M-08. Just for the record the last two layouts were very enjoyable to drive IMO. Thank again for keeping this alive "post pandemic"

I used to run 21t with the rally blocks. Now on TC tyres I switched for 23t and it is harmonic with this motor. It was simply too slow with the smaller tyres. 

 

It turned out as a really tight battle in the end. And what a diversity of vehicles. I gotta say that 32 laps with a Hornet is impressing.

The end date of each round is mentioned in the post were the track outlay for this round is shared. Usually it ends at the last Sunday of the month at midnight. So when you follow this thread you'll see the new track layout and the end date of the new round in a future post. Normally the one taking first place decides the next track layout.

Awesome job you guys, it was fun! For doing it for the first time, Im pretty happy with getting 9th place. I did notice the TT02 steering angle doesnt quite make the hairpin areas easy with any sort of throttle. Did anyone have any tips on either improving steering angle on the TT02? Or just any driving tips?

I wasn't happy with the steering angle on my TT02 either, but like a real car you need to keep the weight up front before going into hairpins and keep off the throttle.

Maybe running some thicker grease in the back would help?

On the stock knuckles in the front theres like a little barrier that you can dremel out to get more steering angle,but you run the risk of losing dogbones Lol

Man the Mid is simply divine to drive. I just chucked on some road tires and it almost felt as if I tuned it up for on road, which I sure did not -last time I drove it was on snow. It is a mighty capable car overall, and the limits of my performance were dictated solely by my driving skills, the bumps on the tarmac (cars do get air on them occasionally during the run, and the Mid even traction rolled during a turn too close to the landing, fortunately with no cosmetic consequences) and maybe, towards the end, by the already balding on road tires. Indeed, a brand new set is now almost completely burned through, after exactly nine attempts at this round. I will post a photo later. Gosh! I wasn't even close to that,

Street Scorcher TA02SW Torque Tuned motor was 30 laps, as was the Javelin with a 13.5t Brushless in it, the Porsche 934 TA02SW managed an extra lap at 31 powered by a Silver Sport Tuned. Maybe the Low Friction Shocks helped a bit there.

All just good clean fun, very enjoyable , and that Mid is certainly going to be one to watch Mr @Ferruz 😉

Yea that kinda blew my mind, especially cause it was only one attempt (after a few tries and tumbles, that is). After running the 4wd cars, I was expecting to get about 28 laps with the Hornet, and by the time I got to lap 32 I started thinking something must be wrong with the timer.

I struggle with my Mid on turns as tight as these. Although, it's also too quick with a 10.5T in so I need to turn the throttle down. I suspect in my case with the power I've put into it it would want different suspension settings to work well on tarmac even on a more open track. It's a heap of fun on looser surfaces though. Interested to know how you've set yours up, what diff fluid etc? 

I got 32 laps with my XV. There was more to be had but never 38 with my driving skills!

I have a suggestion for the next track; Estering. I am on holydays ATM so it would be nice if someone could scale it down, if it looks like something useful. It could maybe be cool to have the joker lap as well, as an extra challenge. 

 

Driving direction is clockwise BTW.

Nitros are indeed allowed, as long as they are safe and legal to run in your chosen spot of course. The round ended at midnight GMT on Sunday, but a new one will begin again soon.

That looks great! Does anybody fancy doing the scaling? I can give it to go if there aren't any volunteers, but I suspect that there are others on this forum who would do a far better job than I. Any takers?

My Thundershot has quite a few upgrades and mods, but most are aimed at reliability and strength rather than handling and performance. Those relevant to handling include swapping the orientation of the rear lower suspension arm mount to increase the rear toe angle, adjusting the track rods to give two degrees toe out at the front, switching from a monoshock to dual shocks at the front ( I used the DT-03 plastic CVA shocks with thick-ish Associated oil and springs of unknown origin from my box of bits), firming up the anti-roll bar pushrod mounts and moving them slightly closer to the pivot point, effectively stiffening its action slightly.

I also fitted a large modern rear wing, but at the relatively slow speeds demanded by the technical Postal Racing courses, I don't know if it serves any function. It helps the vehicle fly straighter over jumps, but until we start including those in the Postal tracks, I guess it isn't really relevant for this discussion.

I use FTX Vantage wheels and tires, primarily due to their low cost, as Postal Racing is indeed hard on the tires, especially the front ones which can easily get worn out after a single round.

No time like the present. How about we make the marker halfway along the bottom straight a jump? Then you can either run it dead straight with a jump or use it as a marker to create the gentle left hand bend as currently drawn? 😉

P.S. I like the look of this track. Whether that's with the tight chicane in the North-East of it or the longer R-L-R.

Hello all, I have been working on an M-05 and I think I'll be getting back into Postal Racing.

Last night I went out to the basketball courts and marked up this month's track as I couldn't help seeing what the car would feel like on a tight track. This time I used bright tape instead of training cones to mark the track which was a huge improvement.

Well!  The car certainly felt too fast/powerful for me and I kept having to refrain from putting the power down else I run wide on every corner! My F1 didn't feel like that and neither did my RWD TT-02.

The car has a 17.5 on 2S with a 20t pinion. I already know it's struggling with understeer from previous testing. And I am running poor tires on a dusty surface too.

Any tips from the M-05 postal "fast guys" (@Andreas W 😉) are welcomed!
