Racing by post - Round 51 track is up. Hop along and see!

Recommended Posts

Same as for Kowalski86 I have had on and off rain or snow after my last attempt. We got 40 cm of snow the other day, so there has been enough to do finding a place for it together with the 60cm we already had.

Edit: When I made the last attempt with the Grasshornet the conditions had improved. The day before the surface had patches of 1-2 cm of snow, slowing down the Grasshornet significantly and bringing the Thunder Dragon out of line. The next day the wind had blown that layer of snow away leaving a nice and even surface. On that day I knew I only had time to run one car,  so I only brought the Grasshornet with me. No surprice the Grasshornet improved with a whopping 5 laps. I feel a little sad for not giving the Thunder Dragon the chance to improve in these better conditions, but hey: It's only about half old men playing with toy cars on remote spots. Pretty geeky seen from the outside :D

Well, I won't lie... it's been perfect dry and warm weather for all of January. But with the little one who joined our family I have been looking after two rather restless toddlers full time! I have been extremely lucky to commit to 15min of tinkering on my Group C almost every night 😎

I might be able to sneak out of the house late at night and try a couple of stints with my rally car. Fingers crossed!

I sneaked out of the house last night only to find that I was out of Ductape 🙄 So without markers not much happened in terms of racing. There's 4 more good nights remaining though 😉

Sad to say the round is out tonight at midnight .  Time to get creative (after the small ones have gone to bed).

Oh that's right! I can try some nick-of-time racing tonight 😉

Congrats to all! I'm really looking out to more time off on sundays and better weather, I'm missing driving my cars in general and competing in this especially.

Same here. I guess I have to get a buggy next.👍

Congrats to MontyMole with the win. I'm happy with my result. The friction on the dry snow surface cannot have been that bad after all. Despite beeing slide-friendly I in the end was able to run clean and without errors, so given the conditions I'm happy and it was great fun when I got into the rythm.

Already looking forward to the next round.

Wow, couldn't have imagined! The track was pretty topsy-turvy, and I had all kinds of issues last month, from not finding some free time for doing some laps to my LiPo probably going to greener pastures. I guess having a mild January helped.

@MontyMole

As winner of the last round, you have the honour of choosing where we go to next. Feel free to either draw up a track, or to pick one from a previous round for us to revisit.

Looking forward to this, going to order up some cones from Amazon so me and and kids can put some laps in!  Fully expecting to be down the bottom in our monster trucks mind, but might inspire us for our next class of builds to be more race appropriate!

I've been waiting to run this in the "under 540" class.

I've practiced with cones...don't bother! One tiny hit and they go flying, so you have to keep resetting the course. I'm going to try chalk lines or tape now on the drive.

I've yet to post a time yet, but hopefully this time!

I'm hoping to get in on this for the next round.  I went and did a recce at my local asphalt basketball court as that looks like a good place to mark out a track, but the rain had brought all the worms out onto the court (why they prefer that over the soft grass directly next to it I have no idea).  In any case, I didn't fancy having worms wrapped round my drive shafts so gave it a miss.

Hi guys, I'm curious to know what people are using to count their laps as of today? Specifically, does anyone know of an android compatible app that does not call lap times out loud?

Thanks!

I've had good luck using strips of masking tape, just lay it out like checkpoints and drive through the middle of them. They stay on over time if you need multiple trips, and they're easy to clean up.

Hi everyone, apologies for not responding quickly, my free time is getting scarce ultimately.

Did we ever raced on Magny-Cours? Because I wanted to propose that.

Here's my drawing for the circuit. Let me know what you think.

I cannot remember we have raced that course in my time. Looks like the 380 powered cars are gonna run flat out at least on 3 places. I like it (and hope that the 3 cm of snow we got yesterday blows away, so the pristine frosen gravel comes out in the light).

We live near an Astro pitch and some cones are usually left lying, we’ve borrowed them to make a basic track and they stay quite well on the rougher surface (even to the point the kids tip their trucks if they clip them!).  I can imagine they are useless for smooth surfaces though!

Track looks great for our first go, keeping Blackfoot shiny side up round those hairpins will be fun 😂

When do we need to do our laps by?  I don’t think I’ll manage until next week.

Usually the round is for a month, with February being short I would think this round laps would have to be submitted by midnight Sunday March the 3rd ( @TurnipJF?) using the Goggle Form link on page 1 of this thread.

Enjoy it 👍🏻
