Racing by post - Round 51 track is up. Hop along and see!

Well that decides it then. M-chassis it is. And I hereby challenge anyone else with an M-chassis car to run it in this round too. Let's see how many M-0somethings we can get on the results sheet!

This morning was probably going to be my only shot at this round.

Glad to say perfect race conditions  welcomed me first thing, 27 degrees C, blue sky, with a nice breeze.

Last nights race prep was adding a bit of Shoe Goo to tyres to help hold them on the rim as they are perishing somewhat now.

Being a Saturday morning my favourite spot is an access road to a Crane place so didn’t go there as there would likely be workers coming and going. Spot 2, old Maritime Museum car park, not as good bitumen but has tree shade and is 99% free from people or traffic. Not today though. Contemplated Netball courts, but a drive by the Uni at the Marina felt like the ideal place. Bitumen is as good as spot #1 with the added bonus of a bit of shade. Excellent 👌🏻

Having done some long and extensive research on tuning an RC race car (it’s serious stuff this you know 😉) I came to the conclusion that adding thicker spacers to the front shocks would surly be the winning formula for a  podium position??

So with the track laid out, race HQ established, (no fancy Redbull pit crew though), all car tweaking complete, Bluetooth speaker music playing and the timer set, racing was on 😃

Just used the M08 Mini today and with the (surprisingly!!) tight bits from marker 5 it was in its element. Stiffening up the front a touch definitely helped with not spinning out after a near full squirt of the throttle to marker 4 and braking for the wiggly bits. With my style of driving I don’t usually brake much to keep the back end in check, I think though with a bit more drag brake would help me to, I’ve got a program card but frustratingly tells me it needs an update to be used 🙄.
Still had a great time out with the Mini and I’m starting to get the hang of braking now rather than a slower approach to a corner and rolling round it. Fun care free morning out which is what it’s all about in the end.

Good luck all.

Nice report @Re-Bugged 😉👍

Your weather conditions are so much different than mine!! All covered in snow around here, lol. Makes for excellent free runs and bashing, but no postal racing for me these days. Maybe I'll try to find a suitable spot around xmas time to have a shot at this round. It seems that there will be more participants this time. Good luck everybody and have fun

We had bit of a heatwave recently @Ferruz but has cooled of a bit fortunately, after Christmas will see temps rise again over mid 30’s (C) I should think.

I expect @Andreas W, & half the population of the UK along with yourself are busy ironing thermal undies at the moment 😉

Hehe. The temps here are not as stable as I suspect they are at Ferruz' place. Now we have 0 C and we will unfortunately get more snow. Do'nt get me wrong. I love winter and snow,  but not the heavy, slushy stuff we are getting today. I had a good bash with the TD yesterday night. It was too deep for the Lancia. I Do'nt see any point jamming it full of snow, when a buggy is better.

Finally managed to get some laps, after 2 and some months of stop. Since I'm on tarmac, I've tried some cheap tyres I've got by mistake from Amazon, instead of the rally tyres that come with the XV-01. I guess they work, but they are unglued, they do come off if you push the car hard enough.

We had rain for the most this week. This means black ice on the afternoon and evening, so pretty hopeless comditions. My usual tarmac spot is now full of salt, so useless. I tried my luck at the gravel spot 2 days ago, but the TZ decided it was time for new brushes. I marked up the course and waited for the cold today (wanted crusty snow without footprints). That went pants. The snow has melted and there was just black ice.

I then chose just to freeride on the crusty snow in the surrounding area. I have fitted a TT motor with 14T pinion. The car feels lame and it is destructive for the lesernes throtle management, but gives a nice indication of what to expect from the 2. hand Terra for the kids. With the 5200 Lipo i drove for more than 40 min and was still going.

Wish all postal racers a merry Christmas. Family duties is what counts now,  so no more postal racing before next year. Plan to wrench a little in my workshop inbetween.

I think I'm done for the year, not sure I can squeeze something in the weekend. I need to do some servicing to the car, the diffs are leaking. Probably I'll make a thread for it, there's a couple of thing I wanted to ask.

Compared to all of you, my December has been pretty mild, a bit of rain at the beginning and the last time it was foggy and humid, but nothing serious.

Excellent. I’m usually a good few laps behind the pro’s 😉. I still enjoy the participation though when I get the chance.

Just can’t seem to get into the Google forms to submit results?

Sorry for the lack of results. I am away from my computer and can't seen to get into the back end of the form from my phone. I'll have them up in a day or two.

I only just completed the result form  I thought we had untill next weekend, oops  Not that the results were that impressive, to my regret only had one go this time due to the weather and other unfavorable circumstances.

Not a problem. Given the weather and the festive rush, I'm happy to accept any entries that make it onto the system before I get the results posted. So if anyone else fancies a quick extra run at the course over the next day or two, have at it!

Well done @MontyMole! I really thought I had this one in the bag with some good runs with both my M-07 and M08, but it looks like they weren't quite enough. You now have the honour of choosing where we go next.

Amazing effort @MontyMole, I knew I should have kept my Christmas ebay voucher to go towards an XV01 😉

@TurnipJF, all that teapot tuning experience pays off again for you 👍🏻. I’m thinking your M chassis’s are set at medium length so being 15mm longer than my short 210mm M08 means theoretically it has further to travel each lap, well that’s my excuse anyway and I’m sticking to it 🤣😂 Excellent results my good man.

Great racing all round everyone hopefully see you at the next one 👍🏻
