Is what colour you going for?

Ford Pacific Green.... 2 coats of Tamiya PS-17, Metallic Green - backed with Sky Blue. It came very close!

But without the Metallic Green, I'm nowhere.....

They're basic, Magnets aren't very strong, and hard to make stay where you want them.... But if it's your only option, it WILL work.

I had to rethink the Rear Body Mounts! 😖  This is a common occurrence when bodging something together with spare bits!! IMG_20201006_124542.thumb.jpg.24b72648bd954b08938e5cbb768c479e.jpg

I also redid the Magnet Plate, using .080" Lexan. MUCH stiffer, which will support better.  I'm still reminding myself that this isn't a 8mph Crawler!! IMG_20201006_125122.thumb.jpg.f73afd209090aa6b1943c353682cab36.jpg

I still wanted some movement and flexibility, but this mod will PREVENT sagging!!  ..... It's bad enough that my human Body SAGS - don't want my Mustang doing the same!! 😜

Also, on my M05, I used teeny weeny 11mm, N35 Magnets... Body pops off on most hard hits. 😖  I can do BETTER than that!! I got 16mm, N52 Magnets for this one!! 😊

BUT - unlike the Front, it doesn't allow for the 4mm spacing for the Magnets. So it will have to be lowered slightly.  Par for the course!! IMG_20201006_130711.thumb.jpg.3534a28ec34d4f06874a5e26bb6b3c72.jpg

I didn't realize at first, but the Magnets would have been seen behind the Rear Window. That wouldn't DO!!

🎶 I could zoom like the Dickens, outrun angry Chickens....  🎶  I'd be fit as a Fiddle, never caught up in the Diddle..... IF I only had some Paint.  🎶🎶

Don't mind me! My Grandson and I are watching "The Wizard of Oz" and THAT just popped into my head!! 😖😧

Sometimes....... Being a Songwriter can get TEDIOUS! 🔨 💣

My Rare Earth Magnets arrived today! 😊 I can now get to some serious bodging!! 😜😂  Magnet placement is more important than the actual Magnets themselves. Sure they have to hold the Body fast....

But NO Magnets have a lot of sheer strength. Bumping the Car from the side can in some cases, slide them apart quite easily!!  MY JOB is to mitigate that risk! 😉😎

OH..... And I got THIS today!!! 😁😊😁😊😊 20201008_141541-1.thumb.jpg.f967f3d181089edbcf5fceaccbe18dac.jpg

From my Wounded Warrior sponsor/buddy - an EXCELLENT GoPro 7 Clone, in a sturdy Case, with a wealth of bits and bobs for various means of attachment.

Up to FOUR HOURS of 1080p Recording - THREE HOURS at 4K!!! 😲👍👍  I've never had a Camera this nice before. I guess I'll have to learn how to use it QUICKLY, and make some Video finally!!

I'm PUNCHING myself in the Head currently! I ALMOST did an insanely STUPID thing - and ask him for $20 so I can finally buy PAINT!! 😖😠  GAWD I'm glad I stopped myself.

Anyway, totally Chuffed and can't wait to use it!  It's also WaterPROOF to 40 meters...... YEAH, like I'd ever do THAT! 😂😄

MAYBE..... Someday this will also have a BODY! 😲😖  I talked about this on @TurnipJF's Thread about His great Competition idea....

Without going through all the sad Details - our bottom fell out about the time I was getting close the first time on this Project... I never got the Body. 😞  Every time I nearly had the Money, I couldn't find any Stock. Lately I just don't have the money....  NO, I'M NOT ASKING!!! 😖

I actually have a short list of Bodies. These are the ones on my List from Tamiya....IMG_20200915_031258.thumb.jpg.c5c9f17ca1a3ede5b961668e01b1e974.jpg

95 Mustang Cobra (Owned the Real one, plus 7 Foxbody Mustangs and 3 other SN95 Mustangs)(1994-2004)IMG_20200915_031414.thumb.jpg.bf8cf9574b060311cb747bf6e9bd4615.jpg

2018 Mustang GT4 IMG_20200915_031526.thumb.jpg.c7f9b68adbc7f1c4552af566a32e9e10.jpg

1984 Audi Quattro (Owned this too!)

....... AND - Made a NEW Discovery from L and L Models in England..... IMG_20200915_031142.thumb.jpg.bf2509068b44b35cd781027f5760d2a7.jpg

1974 Ford Mk1 Escort!! 😁😊

https://landlmodels.co.uk/products/mk1-escort-body-shell-kit-190mm

I just found this - and these would be worth it for YOU to look into as well.  For a Kid growing up in the States, doing ANYTHING to avoid our compleat POS, 50hp, Front Wheel Drive JUNK heap that was tinny, rattling, squeaking, Oil BURNING CRAP - that was passed off to us as an ESCORT - that Ford laughingly called a "World Class Car"!!

THEN found out over 15 years later, that the REST of the World, got a FUN, fast, Sporty, good Handling - REAR Wheel Drive RALLY Spec Beast, also called the Ford Escort!!! 😲😎

My Friends in England, Europe, Australia and possibly South Africa - have well heard of this Gem.

..... For an Old, Disabled Fart in the U.S., it would be a very unique Car for me to have!!    (Although it WILL take possibly until next year, for me to consider ordering something sizeable from England!!)  But a Guy can Dream, right??

I got one of these.  I am on the east coast and with shipping it was over $80

not cut or painted yet but I believe it is worth every penny.

I have those on order  My plan is to attach  my usual rare earth magnets in place of the ones supplied.

i have rare earths on my crawler and can pick it up by the body without it detaching. (Rig is about 10 lbs with 4 magnet points)

All I use is Rare Earth Magnets... I try for N52, the strongest. I used N35 on my M05 CRX (and they're even stronger than the ones that come on these kits) - and the Body pops off on most hard hits!

I use N52 on both of my SCX10 IIs and SCX10 One... Between 8.5 and 11.3lbs each. NONE of those have ever just popped off!!

I've been Magnet Mounting RC Bodies for over 15 years. Only in the past THREE has it been truly accepted.

BACK TO BUSINESS......

Got the Rear Magnets mounted. It's all downhill from here!! IMG_20201011_064554.thumb.jpg.44d3f1755512e7c69ab57f3bd731d203.jpg

She will be sitting pretty!!! 😊 IMG_20201011_064948.thumb.jpg.282013fdf8df027ad674813998b0fbc0.jpg

Up Front, I couldn't use the Posts. They were too close to the folds in the Hood (Bonnet). I moved them inboard, to match the flat portion of the Hood.

With the Body sitting on the Chassis... IMG_20201011_065422.thumb.jpg.705446987aea2f805b3b47740df95d72.jpg

Completely clear of the Rear Window!! 👍👍 IMG_20201011_065814.thumb.jpg.a6c10b278a2d9a699ea2c2efdf3f2ffa.jpg

Im going to have to move one of the Magnets, but otherwise I like the position.

It's coming together great @Carmine A B)

I love a Mustang too. When I was a kid one of my dad's mates was a BMRC marshal, got us into the British GP a few times in the mid-late 80s, plus took us touring car racing quite a bit. The TC races themselves were fun (it was all Sierra RS Cosworths and the like), but the best parts of the card were the various classic races which featured loads of old Escorts (proper British ones ), Triumphs, Minis, MGs, Lotus Cortinas and classic Mustangs and Shelbys screeching around the circuit! What a sight, what a noise!

I managed to pick up one of these HPI shells and some of their vintage rims and tyres to match, but haven't found a chassis home for it yet. I think waiting for a front motor / rear wheel drive combo is wishful thinking though

@Juhunio I'm officially JEALOUS!! 😜  1967 Fastback (the Real one) has been near the top of my Dream List for most of my life.   I've been fortunate enough to have owned 18 Mustangs in my life!!! (Most in the 80's and 90's, when they were just used Cars)

The object of this one is to Model the one I'm getting NEXT year! 😊👍👍

Front Motored RWD TCs are near impossible to find... Best bet could be a Mid Motor AWD - and disable the front Drive.  ALTHOUGH, MST or one of the Chinese Drift Chassis MAY have that setup. Worth looking into! 😉

You could (if money were not an issue) get a 3 speed chassis, put the rear live axle on above the springs and relocate the hangers up so you'd reduce ride height and then mount TL01 lower arms on the front of the chassis and some upper camber links bolted to towers mounted on chassis rails. You'd end up with a ladder chassis, live axle rear and IFS front setup like a hot rod :D (I'd ditch the 3spd tranny and instead use an aircraft prop reduction gearbox which drives straight through to a traxxas propshaft. I've done similar in the past but using DIY parts such as alloy channel found in DIY stores.

edit: actually a CC-01 rear axle may be better as it should fit within a 190-200mm wide shell even with tyres on

@mud4fun the CC-01 IS too fast to ever be a proper Crawler... Maybe an On-Road project for the old girl might be a future project. 😉

Meanwhile, the rest of the Paint arrives today by FedUp... The mystery will be solved! 😂
