Welcome AGAIN!! ๐Ÿ˜Š๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ‘

So about 4 years ago, I first had the hairbrained idea to build a Car, bit by bit!! SEEMED like a good idea at the time.ย  In reality it DOES have one distinct advantage.....ย

I was able to get cool Upgrades along the way, without a big waste of Kit parts, that weren't used!! ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ‘

Like #47339 Blue FRP Chassis Tub (which I'm glad I got, because it's now DISCONTINUED!) ๐Ÿ˜–ย

#54501 Blue Alumininium Propshaft and #54502 Blue Propshaft Endsย

#DSG0060PU Yeah Racing 60mm Aluminum Shocks, with SIX Spring Options! (I had replaced the YR O-Ring Seals with Team Associated X-Rings FOUR years ago... They were all FULL of Oil tonight! ๐Ÿ˜๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ‘ย

#TATT-047BU Blue Yeah Racing Aluminum CVDs (FAT, stock style)ย IMG_20200914_151220.thumb.jpg.3e992f67aae6ff1705fade00b6e806b9.jpg

15KG Metal Gear Servo, and of COURSE a full Fast Eddy Bearing Set!! ๐Ÿ˜‰ย IMG_20200914_151734.thumb.jpg.97b70aa24edba400c883e81d61ddd81f.jpg

And... A Kimborough Servo Saver - the ONLY thing I use when I DO actually use a Servo Saver!! ๐Ÿ˜œย

Clearly, it NEEDS things.... Aluminum Steering for imperative starters.ย  I'd LIKE Oil-Filled Diffs, but it's not an emergency.ย

Aluminum C-Hubs, front and rear - but LEAVING the Plastic A-Arms, to have a cheap point of breakage!ย

I DON'T HAVE A FRONT URETHANE BUMPER!!! ๐Ÿ˜–ย  IF anyone has a spare, I'd really appreciate one...

I had ONE Motor left to use... And it wasn't a bad choice!!! ๐Ÿ˜ย IMG_20200914_152329.thumb.jpg.cf87ed13285f5324b057faa53243546f.jpg

19 Turn HOT Reedy Motor!!ย  That'll do. ๐Ÿ‘Œย  Of course so I don't COOK the thing, I've GOT to gear down a bit. It came with a 24t Pinion Gear, I'm dropping down to a 20t...ย IMG_20200914_152910.thumb.jpg.b3842ba5c3d5f11dc61debea05d312c6.jpg

.... I never really saw the merit of Tamiya Ceramic Grease, but I know a lot of people like it. Just not the biggest fan of it.ย IMG_20200914_153332.thumb.jpg.e3acd871524e4000d6ca297b45ed6650.jpg

Those who follow me, know what my "Better Idea" is.ย IMG_20200914_153808.thumb.jpg.ddcc7a36ae8401dc1b2144d18f7ebf49.jpg

These Diffs were both VERY loose, very Open. I need a little more lockup than that.

THIS!!! ๐Ÿ˜Šย IMG_20200909_103950.thumb.jpg.ef86974b12d9df158db6dc5103d74795.jpg

Good 'Ol Permatex Anti Seize Lubricant!!ย  WHY?ย  Because it has the SAME ingredients as Tamiya AW Grease, same ability to STAY exactly where you put it, Plastic SAFE....ย

And it's slightly thinner than AW Grease, and works in Gearboxes without unnecessary Drag!ย  AND - it costs a FRACTION of what AW Grease costs - for a lot more product. ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ˜Žย

..... I'm about to see how it works as a thick Diff Lube.ย

EDIT: Almost filling the Diff with AS Lube, acts VERY similar to 15K-20K Diff Oil!! ๐Ÿ˜Šย  SO impressed.

This trick will basically FILL all those cavities under the Steering Rack Assembly, preventing Stones and things from JAMMING up your Steering, potentially damaging your Servo!!ย IMG_20200914_154939.thumb.jpg.f36ba4c73b9a2b0f4580db8a5f43d9d5.jpg

The "Dam, was made with a strip cut from .020" Styrene Sheet, sealed in place with Gorilla Tape. The Battery side is well enough contained....ย

SIDE THOUGHT.... If it becomes possible, I'd also like to get a pair of BLUE Parts Tree A's!! ๐Ÿ˜ย  Esthetics and OCD!!

Then the FUN begins!! ๐Ÿ˜Šย IMG_20200914_155252.thumb.jpg.049e5a26586ec992636dbca4f9888652.jpg

I like the 5 minute, Clear Epoxy. Cures HARD, not terribly heavy, easy to mix and pour.ย IMG_20200914_160058.thumb.jpg.6e9f3471bf152afbb08fed251353ecfa.jpg

Im not sure how well the picture shows it, but I filled up all the cavities on both sides of the Front Chassis. I inserted Screws into the threaded holes, so they wouldn't accidentally get filled! ๐Ÿ˜‰ย  REMOVE those as soon as the Epoxy just starts to set!!ย

DO NOT GET ANY IN THE CENTRE PROPSHAFT AREA OR THE FRONT DIFF CAVITY!! ๐Ÿ˜ฒย  Epoxy DOESN'T undo easily - or at ALL!!ย

(Now, my Friend Mark, used a Hot Glue Gun instead. Very similar results, but mine is permanent, and even adds strength.)ย  ย AND I live in a Desert. Mark lives in Midlands, England. Desert Summer and Hot Glue don't mix well!! ๐Ÿ˜–

While the Epoxy is curing...ย IMG_20200914_181915.thumb.jpg.f1b7a2a5359c490f4a1a271924367673.jpg

Time to rebuild the Front Diff! First soaked in Alcohol, then carefully warshed in HOT water and Dawn Detergent....ย

Shocked to find absolutely NO WEAR on these FRP Gears!! ๐Ÿ˜ณ๐Ÿ˜ย  I was sure I would need Steel. Maybe after this 19t Motor on 3S!! We'll see.ย

Yes, the AS Lube is a bit thinner than AW Grease.... But still quite thick. Reassembled the Front Diff with it, and its now got FIRM Diff Action - like about what 15,000-20,000wt cst feels like. ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ‘ย  Liking this so far.

I guess I'll need to do the Rear Diff as well. I'm sure it's just as DRY.ย  If memory serves, I need the Rear Diff to not be AS stiff as the Front.....ย

I shall soon see just HOW LONG those FRP Plastic Bevel Gears are going to last, with 12 volts going through a 19 Turn Motor!! ๐Ÿ˜ฒ๐Ÿ˜ณย  Call it "Consumer Testing" for YOU Guys!

Glad to see you get this up and running @Carmine A, been a while!

I can recommend the Yeah Racing aluminium steering set, seeks to me to be as good as the Tamiya set and a fraction of the price ๐Ÿ‘

I have a spare grey urethane bumper leftover from a TT02 buildย which Iโ€™d be happy to ship to you from the uk, on me. PM me yourย address and Iโ€™ll sort that out for youย

For the less experienced TT-02 Builders out there... The Front and Rear Diffs can go in, EITHER direction!ย IMG_20200914_224731.thumb.jpg.7f7378b09ad3b4354d5d10ec3ccb82e9.jpg

HOWEVER, they will only work in ONE direction!! With the end of the Chassis facing You - the Big Gear MUST be facing towards the Right.ย

When you flip the Chassis around, so the REAR Diff faces you - You do the SAME thing! Whichever end is pointed towards YOU, the back of the Diff Ring Gear will always be installed facing the RIGHT SIDE!! ๐Ÿ‘Œ

You'll KNOW if one is in the incorrect position. With the Car OFF the Ground, give it a little Throttle... IF one Axle spin forward, and the other spins BACKWARDS (or just the opposite direction), then one of the Diffs is installed backwards!! ๐Ÿ˜–๐Ÿ˜ฒย

........ Don't ask me how I learned THAT!! ๐Ÿ˜ก๐Ÿ˜ ๐Ÿ˜œ

MAYBE..... Someday this will also have a BODY! ๐Ÿ˜ฒ๐Ÿ˜–ย  I talked about this on @TurnipJF's Thread about His great Competition idea....ย

Without going through all the sad Details - our bottom fell out about the time I was getting close the first time on this Project... I never got the Body. ๐Ÿ˜žย  Every time I nearly had the Money, I couldn't find any Stock. Lately I just don't have the money....ย  NO, I'M NOT ASKING!!! ๐Ÿ˜–ย

I actually have a short list of Bodies. These are the ones on my List from Tamiya....IMG_20200915_031258.thumb.jpg.c5c9f17ca1a3ede5b961668e01b1e974.jpg

95 Mustang Cobra (Owned the Real one, plus 7 Foxbody Mustangs and 3 other SN95 Mustangs)(1994-2004)IMG_20200915_031414.thumb.jpg.bf8cf9574b060311cb747bf6e9bd4615.jpg

2018 Mustang GT4ย IMG_20200915_031526.thumb.jpg.c7f9b68adbc7f1c4552af566a32e9e10.jpg

1984 Audi Quattro (Owned this too!)

....... AND - Made a NEW Discovery from L and L Models in England.....ย IMG_20200915_031142.thumb.jpg.bf2509068b44b35cd781027f5760d2a7.jpg

1974 Ford Mk1 Escort!! ๐Ÿ˜๐Ÿ˜Šย ย

https://landlmodels.co.uk/products/mk1-escort-body-shell-kit-190mmย

I just found this - and these would be worth it for YOU to look into as well.ย  For a Kid growing up in the States, doing ANYTHING to avoid our compleat POS, 50hp, Front Wheel Drive JUNK heap that was tinny, rattling, squeaking, Oil BURNING CRAP - that was passed off to us as an ESCORT - that Ford laughingly called a "World Class Car"!!ย

THEN found out over 15 years later, that the REST of the World, got a FUN, fast, Sporty, good Handling - REAR Wheel Drive RALLY Spec Beast, also called the Ford Escort!!! ๐Ÿ˜ฒ๐Ÿ˜Ž

My Friends in England, Europe, Australia and possibly South Africa - have well heard of this Gem.

..... For an Old, Disabled Fart in the U.S., it would be a very unique Car for me to have!!ย  ย  (Although it WILL take possibly until next year, for me to consider ordering something sizeable from England!!)ย  But a Guy can Dream, right??ย

I'd be more worried about having the steering rack holes filled by the epoxy, given their closer proximity and lower height then the center shaft holder holes no?

You're absolutely right. I was late with the picture here...ย  If you look at the previous post,ย  all four holes have Screws in them. ๐Ÿ˜‰

I will following these build closely. I haven't had much luck with mine. It's sat on the shelf with the thought of getting a round to it one day. Don't get a steering set for jazrider! Mine has and it's as sloppy as porridge mate.

TRUST ME Mate, I've got NO plans to.... I avoid Jazzrider ANYTHING, except maybe solid pieces like Shock Towers.ย

If I can't get Tamiya, and I usually can't afford it - Yeah Racing is my other go-to!! ๐Ÿ˜ย

.... And YUP, that was my Quattro!! Loved that Car. I was thinking about HOW FAST I could've made it today, with all the recent Super Tuning bits. ๐Ÿ˜ฒ๐Ÿ˜๐Ÿ˜๐Ÿ˜ย

We Americans CAN be ignorant!! I had to explain to several people in the 80's, as to what Quattro MEANT - and THEN what made a FIVE cylinder Engine go!!! ๐Ÿ˜–๐Ÿ˜‚

Getting the Electronics sorted. Because of my chronic OCD... This wasn't going to be straightforward!! ๐Ÿ˜œ๐Ÿ˜ย IMG_20200916_140108.thumb.jpg.0b7934f20fbaf45f75d5b239a8948c28.jpg

Whenever possible, I try to solder the ESC Wires straight into the Motor.ย IMG_20200916_140425.thumb.jpg.658ffe408102f952abc8b5b272f54356.jpg

Back to OCD... There's GOT to be something I can do.

Them front ones look good! Should give you more terrain options too with those knobbly tyres.ย

Thanks! Nothing is Glued yet.... So there's combination options.ย  One thing worth mentioning is that the Tyres on the Rear are MUCH softer compound.ย

The Tyres on the Front, although as hard as Tamiya Buggy Tyres, are quite aggressively Knobby. I'd definitely save them for the Dirt or Sand.... Which we have PLENTY of here!!

I suppose another thing to consider is how they would go with your future bodyshell. Of your shortlisted shell options, which is your favourite?

      Hi Jon,
In the linked image, I've simply moved the bar forward until it is centered directly over the rear shock tower (approx. 10.72mm) and kept the same height. ย Is this what you had in mind?
