Looks really good!!! 👍👍💯  Once you go Lipo.... Most people never go back to NiMH! 😜  I've only got 2 NiMHs left, and I only keep them for just in case I ever want to travel by Plane, with a RC!!

That dropped buggy looking awesome.

I'm curious if it will be a good tarmac runner. My M-05 has a ride height of about 10 mm at the front and 15 mm at the rear, but this is the standard adjustment. I'm not sure if this is right as the Mini Cooper never run until now.

Out of curiosity, do you know how much your M-05 weighs in race ready state including battery? The Avante above weighs 1557g with battery.

Put the M-05 on the kitchen scale this morning. Race ready incl. NiMH battery it weighs 1427 g, with 2S Lipo 1257 g.

..... DON'T make the Mudlets Cars TOO fast! 😜 LMAO 😳😂

Sometimes, Gearing DOWN can actually make you faster. I noticed that on slightly overweight Rigs with low Turn Motors. Yes, the acceleration is quicker, but in some cases - Geared too HIGH can prevent a hotter Motor from reaching its top speed!! 😲 Just doesn't have enough Torque above a certain RPM to rev higher....

A lower Gear has been known to unlock more speed on more than a few occasions.

..... And that Buggy has a wide enough Stance, to not be hindered by some extra Ride Height. 😉

You likely KNOW all that already - but (at least in my case anyway), hearing it from someone else makes it easier to NOT second guess myself. 😜

Cheers! Your Family has some nice machines indeed!!

Thank you!

Yes, are are so right, my terra scorcher uses a 13T pinion with its Reedy 19T, the stock pinion is 15T, and yet that is still capable of 25mph but has excellent acceleration. Don't really need outright top speed on these track designs,, even our garden track doesn't have longer straights than 30 feet.

You're better off... The Guys who insist on the highest possible Gearing, often suffer from puffed Batteries, cooked Motors and blown ESCs!!  😲

BTW, I've never had Braking issues with the Hobbywing WP1060 ESC....  How have you set up the Running Mode??

Obviously not FWD/Brake only. IF you set it as F/R/Brake (the typical Basher/Street Run mode) - you only get about 50% Brake Force going from Forward to Brake....

BUT - if set to the F/R Mode, that's Crawler Mode. Throttle will always go from Forward, directly to Reverse, whilst the Centre (Neutral) is automatic Drag Brake, programmed to about 70-75% Brake Force!

It's a limitation that Hobbywing had to live with, to keep it a low cost ESC....

Hobbywing's Gold Standard Brushed ESC is the WP1080!!  IT can be programmmed via included Program Card, for ANY Braking Forces up to 125%!! 😲😎  (NEEDED to stop my SCX10 II Comanche in a steep decline).  Many other Programmme options, such as - different Lipo Cutoff voltages, Top Speed (F and R!), Voltage to the Servos from 4.8v to 11.1v!!  Acceleration Rates, Coasting Speed, Antilock Brakes, Torque LIMITER (not sure WHO would want that!!), and several other parameters.

It costs only $42 USD, which is incredible value for money considering the many features....  I still can't afford one, but I'd LOV at least 3 of them.

PS. I really don't learn do I?

  • middle mudlets Terra Scorcher upgraded to brand new 19T Reedy spec quad mag
  • a brand new Dyna Run super touring motor going in her Egress
  • and a Kyosho magnetic mayhem (only 22T but very torquey) going into youngest mudlets thundershot
  • and the Vanquish has been gifted to youngest mudlet as I have no desire to run it, hate the plastic bathtub and god awful battery box

So my kids now have (or will have in near future) cars with equivalent performances to mine - am I a good dad or what? or just stupid......

Right.... I was picking at straws. The 1060 IS limited. Nothing we can do about it. It's cheap though.

The 1080 IS the answer! The best offered today.

I do understand.... 100 years ago when I raced Pro.... One of my Sponsors was Team Novak. They GAVE me all the Forward only ESCs that I could break!! 😜  SOLID units. I happily PAID for Roosters and Super Roosters, which weren't legal. They were my TOP choice for home and messing about with friends.  Since I actually Raced for Team Associated - they offered me Reedy F/R ESCs at over 50% off....  I STILL preferred my Roosters - at full price!!

That is terrific news!!! You Guys must be CHUFFED!!!

The taller Gearing must have put just a little too much strain on the weaker Braking Circuits. Glad it's working better. 👍👍  ALSO amazing that those Buggies took those HITS in stride!! Speaks volumes about the upgraded Suspension!

Got some GREAT news myself. We managed to SQUEEZE just enough out of our miniscule Budget to get me PAINT!! 😁😊  The TT-02 Will LIVE!
