they do take up a good chunk of space, but i have 4 Ikea Billy shelves with a glass doors where they are all on display. i could use one more shelf as space is getting a little tight. i bought just one model this year, an AUTOart 1:18 Porsche 991 GT3 RS in purple. didnt buy anything in 2019. prices on new stuff has just skyrocketed and keeps going up. i dont think i will buy much with these high prices, only the models i like the absolutely most.

AUTOart has an 1:18 Lamborghini Diablo SE30 announced, that is one i have wanted for a long time, and will most likely buy.

started collecting in 2004, so the collection has been growing for a long time now. sometimes i take a model or two out and look at while eating dinner :)

Oh I've been eyeing on that model ever since. I've always hoped it to be made by Aa. The sealed Kyosho resin model of that doesn't really appeal to me. Anything Lamborghini with scissor doors should be made with opening features. That's why those MR models never appealed to me. Because aside from being sealed and way too overpriced, so may inaccuracies in dimensions, shape and contours. Yet, they've fooled many people in buying them. I only have one resin in 1:18 which is the 350GT by CMR. Although I might add a 400GT too but I'm still holding back. I really wish Aa would make the Islero and Jarama too. I also heard that they are coming back to making diecast metal models again. But since prices have shot up in the last 10 years, a lot of collectors (including myself and lots of my fellow collector friends) have halted or slowed down.

Anyway, the Diablo SE30 is indeed a must for Lamborghini purists. The SE30 is definitely the most Diablo variant ever made. ;)

sealed models is not really my cup of tea. some of them do have very nice sharp exterior, details, and great color, but i want my models to open so i can see interior/engine. i dont have any sealed models in my collection.

i dont think Autoart is going back to diecast, only some rereleases will be diecast. they have made a new Nissan Skyline (R34) GT-R that will be in plastic, which they have previously made in diecast.

So, do you custom make all your own wheels, disc brakes, seats and photo-etched parts?

Wheels, are bought from a local guy who makes them. Some are ordered online. disc brakes, I've fabricated a few but also ordered some. If they're not available to be bought, then I make them. Photo-etched parts are done by machine and not by hand. It would be a marvel if someone can make that manually.

They did. But I think they've narrowed down their products to model cars and some "lifestyle" stuff.

I was just looking at your albums - absolutely stunning by the way - and have fallen in love with this one:

Lamborghini Huracan LB performance - Welly

Did you buy it with that body kit already fitted? Or is it scratchbuild or aftermarket? I've never seen aftermarket bodykits for 1:18 scale cars, only 1:24

Stunning build though - you got some skills there man ;)

The kit is an aftermarket made license by LB Works. Usually made from resin. But lots of adjustments, sanding, cutting for fitting. I didn't use the supplied wheels and used another instead that are made from metal too. Installation of the wheels to match the width of the wide body is also a challenge. Plus the camber and ride height. Most of the time, the suspension adjustments and fitting is the tricky part. I also make sure that wheels still rotate and steer. I'm not fan of fixed wheels. ;)

that's really interesting - I've got far too many projects on the go really but I'm very tempted by something like this. I know what you mean about resin kits - I've got a few Gundam garage kits that you'd swear were made for something completely different sometimes the fit is so bad, but look amazing if you persist!!

Stunning work again mate - just beautiful

I've had this model for a couple of months already but it was only yesterday that I had the time to do a proper photoshoot.

WOW! Some really beautiful models! I'd love to get into this, but I'm too impatient and lack the skills. I used to collect a lot of Bburago 1:18th models when I was a kid, also have a few Revell ones too, but nothing on the scale of these. I also have a few Otto resin models (Lupo GTI, Golf G60 Limited and Mk1 Golf Cabby Rivage) that I love, but do find it sad that the doors don't open, would be a nice feature to have on them.

Pic of the Lupo GTI below:

Newest addition. I waited 15 years for this. We always petitioned this particular model to be made by AUTOart. Because the one made by Kyosho is inaccuarte and sealed. The one made by Maisto back in the 90s was so wrong in all aspects.

Finally a proper one with full function features (opening fron boot, engine cover, scissor doors, steering function, and working pop-up headlights).

@Nicadraus Do you collect any diecast 1:12 motor bikes by any chance?  As you probably already know, I don't know how to ride a motorcycle, but I love the shape of them.  I got some cheapo Maisto's on order for a Honda CBR and Ducati 1199..

I wanted an (official?) Suzuki GP one but at $115 going price, I thought maybe I should build a Tamiya model kit for $50..?

Update.. Here’s the Maisto with my home made stand..
