mtbkym01 4008 Posted January 25, 2023 Just found this thread and must say I am blown away by not only your pics @Nicadraus, but also your modification skills. I collect Diecast too, I have 2 collections I guess, 1 is Craig Lowndes (Australian Racing Driver) based (I had the opportunity 20+ years ago to spend some time with him and got some hot laps with him which was awesome). I’ve tried to collect what i call significant models from his career and it currently stands at 19 1/18 cars (a few 1/43’s as well). The company that has mostly been licensed (Classic Carlectables) to produce the cars has made more of the latest releases as Resin sealed models which is unfortunate, but I still “needed” to get them for my collection.
mtbkym01 4008 Posted January 25, 2023 I also have started an Australian Ford collection, which includes road cars as well as significant race cars from Classic Carlectables, Biante and AUTOart.

For me the only other iconic Ford I can see you are missing would be an Interceptor.

Thanks mate, yeah I’ve seen a few Interceptors, both versions are available, from Mad Max 1 and a dirty from Mad Max 2. I still need an XR GT sedan, and an XA GT sedan, that would complete the “true” GT Sedan line up. I also need an XB GT Coupe to go with the XA RPO83 and the XC Cobra Opt 97. Then…. I’d like some of the iconic GroupC Touring cars from XA to XE. Space in the cabinet is an issue

A friend has 3D modelled it and soon will start making the mould for it.
Nicadraus 6200 Posted January 26, 2023 That's a nice collection @mtbkym01 I would suggest lifting the each models from sitting on a shelf to avoid tire flat spots. I do this to all my models including the smaller scales 1:64 & 1:43. Overtime, the weight of the models puts pressure on the rubber tires that cerates irreversible flat spots. In the pics below, each model is raised 2 - 3mm from the base. I patiently did all that to my models in all scales. 1
mtbkym01 4008 Posted January 26, 2023 @Nicadraus, what are you using to raise them? That is a very nice collection and display you have there

That is a very nice collection and display you have there I used plastic straws used for balloons that are about 0.5mm in thickness. I cut them according the model's ride height to raise each at least 2-3mm. Then the screws that hold the model on the base are also inserted and concealed in the straws which I also painted in black. The straw raisers can be seen underneath each model in the pictures above.
Nicadraus 6200 Posted April 22, 2023 Today I had time to clean my displays and did photo shoots. Some new shots in 3 scales (1:18, 1:43 & 1:64). Some additional new shots of these classics.

Wow.. https://dc.kyosho.com/en/newitem/ks08617bk.html I wouldn't mind getting one of these. https://dc.kyosho.com/en/newitem/ks08048dbl.html There's actually a lot of 1:12 scales from AUTOart and Kyosho. As much I'd love to collect them, they're too big and eats up too much space. Also very expensive to complete the Lamborghini line. Oh another brand worth checking is Amalgam. They probably make the best and most detaild big scale models. But prices are extremely high.
yogi-bear 2321 Posted August 18, 2023 I've started collecting Hotwheels and Matchbox cars lately, much cheaper than an RC and takes up a lot less space! Displaying is now the problem and saw a great idea on YouTube, so today I laser cut a small display for cars still in their packets. There is some room for improvement, but overall pretty happy.
lupogtiboy 454 Posted August 18, 2023 Don't get me started on the money pit that is Hotwheels! I have 7 64-84 litre Really useful boxes full of Hotwheels. My son is part of the Mattel creations website, so gets me all of the Redline Club and Elite 64 cars. I've got quite a few Matchbox too, it's surprising how hard some are to find and how much they go for.

Nicadraus 6200 Posted February 19 Side by side shots of the Lamborghini Countach 5000s by AUTOart and Kyosho. Both models have their respective accuracies and inaccuracies. But regardless, they both look great.
