Just upgraded the motors to the full 540 size can and got it all wired up.

Don't think I have a thread about this, so here it is.

Currently using 2x 3s lipos on the rear and 1x 2s lipo on the front, not got a suitable 3rd battery yet so mixing it up a bit.

In this next video, it was running 2s all round and the finned 3300kv motors and had already driven all the way to the park pulling my boy most of the way.

My 8 year old had a go as well..

When I replaced the motors I wired one up the wrong way so the rear axles were spinning in opposite directions, I'm surprised it didn't open a black hole somewhere??. It may have done....

Turnigy 2s hardcase fits nice in a stock clodbuster.

2.4ghz receiver

Goolrc sound unit

Light unit

Close up on rear..

I do have a matching pair of 3s and a matching pair of 2s batteries.

I have another softcase nano-tech 3s that I haven't soldered yet, but I also have 2x2s hardcase nanotech which are really punchy so I need one more battery but not decided yet.

Been messing around with an old bike light that stopped working. Long story short..

Thought it would make a great high level brake and indicator light cluster for the clodbuster..

Needs some more work, but getting there..

But anyway,,, originally it was a bike light with 2 lasers that shone lines on the road ahead to warm other road users of a cyclist..

I'm going to finish this one anyway because I couldn't get the lasers to work but now I think I NEED lasers......

I stopped using the clod a while ago, now I remember why, had signal issues and run into my landlord's trailer and cracked the clodbuster body....

Luckily it wasn't a car or a house!!!!!.

Santa doesn't use a sleigh anymore, he just smashes through the wall with a Clodbuster....

Changed receiver and will test somewhere safe. Lol

The clodbuster suffered an accident!!!!

The body was cracked in a roll over so I decided to cut it off before it broke off..

Was trying to decide what to do with the gap in the middle, think a clod bed would fit well but the speed this goes, it wouldn't last long.

Then this happened,..

So, now it's back to 4wd, a lot lighter and easier to carry around.. it still has pogo stick suspension, so it still bounces like a standard clodbuster but it is a lot more stable..  just looks a bit odd.

I have ordered more plastic axle tube, the metal ones are quite pricey,, then you would probably start breaking gearboxes instead..

I couldn't't quite see the video, what was the top speed?

Pretty consistently 25mph on any terrain in the 6wd configuration..

Edit to add, ( don't think the batteries were fully charged at this point)

But I had 2x 3s lipo on the back and s 2s lipo on the front..

When I ran it as a 4wd, on the 2x 3s (11.1 volts) it was consistently going over 30mph..

It's heavy though, lol. Gotta be 6kg?

At least. Lol.

I mean legend says that one clodbuster tyre weighs the same as an elephant..

Nice,

I mean all speed is relative these days. You can stick a 4S lipo and brushless on a brick and have something too fast to control.

It does get a bit skitty at high speed, but doesn't everything?.

It's got some proper grunt, I think I'm going to need new gears soon and they are impossible to find at the moment..

Need to get steel pinion gears but all the ones I've seen have been too small, I don't want to buy 3x adjustable motor mounts..

Is the standard pinion 32dp/ 0.8. 13T?

Yeah, I mean that much weight going at that speed is serious.

Are you going to keep adding to the Clodding Centipede?

6 wheels is enough but I have ordered a few more upgrades...

Just fitted a servo to the front axle...

Forgot, that would make it "crab", I have a servo reverser somewhere,, probably spend the rest of the afternoon looking for that now. Lol

In my quest for ideas to repair the rear bed, I happened to discover that the rear tray from a lunchbox chassis is the same size as the body mounts for the clodbuster..

So I could just pin a lunchbox on the back to increase the centipede...

But  I was  hoping to use the shelf to repair the clodbuster bedjprfD8w.jpg

New body mounts have turned up, after breaking a couple of the original ones during maintenance..

Not quite happy with the rear bed, thought I could get away with it being slightly higher..but  I'm going to have to swallow some brave pills at the weekend and trim some off the new body!!!

So I'm only going to trim a little bit off the rear lights on the new body.

A bit less than this,..

Although, the rear bed is quite badly damaged already, I could see this ending in disaster..

Also fitted steel pinion gears to 2 of the axles, still got to do the front, but I think the plastic gears have took a beating from the kit aluminium pinion gears..

I should have done that first...

That’s a surprisingly accurate description of my 2wd Stampede on 3s😅

There's a nasty cracking sound if you give it some power.. thought the steel pinion might help but I fear that the aluminium ones have already caused damage.. and clod gears are impossible to find at the moment..

It's fine if you feed it in gradually,,

Not fast enough to be fun on 2s but crazy enough to break stuff regularly on 3s.

I've put this up on eBay now, at a silly "I don't really want to sell it price"

Im guess I'd grudgingly accept £500,

Does anybody think it's worth that?

I'm seeing stock clods advertised at £250 or more..

It's a fairly new build and hasn't had loads of abuse..

Posted

Which is strange because I'm using this one the most at the moment..

It's great for running at night with all the lights..

And it goes anywhere.. doesn't tip over as much as the stock one unless you push it too hard, then if you're quick enough to react, you can recover it..

So I don't really want to sell it but it's big and heavy and not quite as fast as I'd like it to be..

Offers invited.. lol
