So I wanted to get a car for my 5 and 7 year old to call their own. They have been using my cars and getting quite good but end up getting a bit precious about them so wanted to get them something thats just theirs. (Sort of)

The plan...

A wild willy came up for sale locally on eBay. When I looked at the pictures I realised the guy literally lived about 10 doors up the road from me. A deal was done!

I planned to just make it a bit more girly but the shell was far too good to ruin. A plan was hatched!

First things first make sure the car was good for use. I did a partial strip down, everything looked pretty good but very dirty. Gears all went through the ultrasonic cleaner, and rebuilt with bearings through out. MSc and old servos were removed and upgraded to something a bit more modern. The silver can seemed to be fine but I had a brand new one left over from my comical avante sitting around so it got that put on too...

Now it was all good to go time to make it a bit more girly. My wife spotted a bargain at our local Tesco. Check the very accurate measurements, yep that's right, it's about 1 girls hand.

Time to get busy with the Dremel, drill and Stanley knife. The Barbie wheels and chassis came off, seats chopped out and shell offered up. Whoops ! My high tech measurement system was a bit out so the arches got heavily flared! I swapped front body mounts back to front on the WW2 which allowed holes to be drilled in roughly the right place on the Barbie car.

Seats  were bodged back in and 2 cheapo dolls added (one of my daughter's has brown hair the other blonde so the dolls had to match obvs)

Its good to roll!

Utterly brilliant, gotta do what ya have to do for ya kids.

The wheels need swapping over, the chevrons are pointing the wrong way.

Just put the LHS on the RHS and vice versa B)

Thanks GP. I had a feeling they were on the wrong way round!
