It's about time tamiya jumped on the escort mk2 band wagon, ebay is full of various escort bodies none of which has stood out as tamiya quality. I'm sure Nathaneal at mciracing will be swamped with different decal set requests. I'd like to see the Rothmans, Andrews Heat for Hire, Vale and the Cossack liveries🤞. L&L already do Andrews, Rothmans, Cossack and Shell Oils / Vatanen.... I want to see the Ford Australia version, as run by Greg Carr, and even Ari Vatanen.... But then, I'm biased.... Wandy 1527 Posted November 12, 2020 So its 414mm long...which is longer than the Lancia Delta's 407mm. Was a MK2 longer than a Delta? Doesnt sound right to me. Edit.: Just checked and yes, it was. Thats quite a surprise.

Butler 338 Posted November 13, 2020 So can you convert a mf01x to be front motor??? Will most buy the shell and a m08?

I imagine it could be possible with 3D printed parts, but mounting the servo will be the tricky bit, not much space. With a custom chassis spacer section it could be done, but that would be a fairly substantial 3D part.
slimleeroy 241 Posted November 13, 2020 I think we need to cut tamiya some slack. We are all quick to jump in and point out their potential mistakes before the car has even been revealed.
Butler 338 Posted November 13, 2020 I’m all for it and I know the body will be scale brilliant, it’s just the purist in me that wants a scale replica of the chassis to match.

It's because this car has an absolutely monster-sized fanbase and a release of it by Tamiya has been wanted for a very long time, so it's crucial that they get it right. If they do that then it will be the biggest selling rally car that they have ever done, and by a long stretch too.

The body itself looks genuine, but looks to me like it's been photoshopped over the wheels. That, or they got the work experience visitor to trim the arches - that's not the trimming quality I'd expect from Tamiya. The dust particles are almost certainly photoshopped on. If it's genuine, then they have indeed done what I feared, and scaled the body to fit those dumb wheels. Sure, you could buy or print some deeper wheels, but then they wouldn't fit under the arches. jonboy1 2943 Posted November 13, 2020 I'd be more tempted to buy the body (or an L&L models one) and 3D print chassis spacers and wheels to suit an M-chassis

M05RA spins its tyres for 5 seconds before it doesn’t anything. M06 swaps ends unless you’re gentle with trigger. MF-01X manages to keep itself planted! My thoughts are, that it would be cool for Tamiya to make an M chassis XV-01 .. tub chassis with nice efficient drive train and good suspension.. Raman36 1656 Posted November 13, 2020 Also noticed that Tamiya has a new esc 45070 Brushless Controller TBLE-04SR (sensored). I wonder if this is an update to the TBLE-02S maybe now it has voltage cuff off for those really new batteries called LiPo? 2

The image treatment on the box looks very similar to the box of the MF-01X Beetle. I think you'll have to wait until you see the real thing before your suspicions are....confirmed. Or the body could be fine and the wheels look rubbish in real life?! I had toyed with getting an MF-01X Beetle the next time it came round on offer from Tamico and playing body-swap with others in my fleet. My GoPro Monster Swift would get the 4WD chassis it deserves (if not the nice blue wheels). This would be a better option if I can find the nice slightly-hopped-up M04 I was working on. Or be a shelf shell for the HPI BMW 2002 M04 runner I have bashed up!

ChrisRx718 4470 Posted November 13, 2020 Can't believe there's some negativity about this! Spoke to a UK retailer earlier and they don't know how many of the first batch they'll be allocated, but already have a huge number of pre-orders despite this only being announced in the last 48 hours... The body looks great? It's naïve at best to think that they would custom-engineer special-sized wheels and tyres to suit a single model, even when we've had model-specific wheel mouldings in the past they're made to suit the now 'industry standard' sized wheels and tyres sizes - which are - newsflash - not scale at all! 2
