The body looks great? It's naïve at best to think that they would custom-engineer special-sized wheels and tyres to suit a single model, even when we've had model-specific wheel mouldings in the past they're made to suit the now 'industry standard' sized wheels and tyres sizes - which are - newsflash - not scale at all!

Plus, and this is just my opinion, their quality isn't up to Tamiya-standard. I think it's awesome that we'll get a Tamiya-quality Mk2 shell, and really hope there are more from that era to follow 👍

yeah, I think this will be a hit for Tamiya. I will definitely get one too, even if the body will be slightly out of proportion. Sure it would be nice to see the Escort on a front engine, rear wheel drive platform, but as a runner/basher platform the MF-01X looks more capable.  I'm also wondering if the MF-01X chassis has been a bit of a silent hit for Tamiya, which I hope so as it could mean we'll see more cars like the Beetle and Escort.

I keep reading about requests for front motor rear drive. I get it as I refuse to put Alfa body in an M05/M07. 

But the front motor rwd takes it to another level.. unless your purpose is to drift only, it will almost guarantee that it will not be suitable for most surfaces.. there will not be sufficient weight transfer for rear traction.. unless somehow the battery is all the way on the back of the car. 

I think MST just made one but again it’s for drift.

personally I’ll go m08 and a gyro. That’s as good as you’ll get. I can’t do 4wd. Just can’t

I have the M06 and M08. While the M08 is hands down a better design, the M06 would handle better for general bashing. The rear motor will help keep the power on the ground much easier than the M08. M08 is best on indoor carpet.

Btw.. if you want an M08, Depending on where you’re located, I have a friend who is selling his.... he is an expert m chassis racer, has won TCS multiple times and gone to Japan for finals.. so a good car to pick up

Neither did the 1.1. My dad's used to love going sideways round roundabouts. My dad weren't too keen when he saw me doing it o ne day🤣

Looks good to me. 

The spotlights aren't terrible but I'll wait to see them in the flesh and I'm not liking the tinted windows but other than that I'm very happy.  I can see these being very popular.

Now I can start wishing for a Lotus Cortina on the M06 chassis.

I drove my 51 year old Alfa to work today. RWD is life my friend.

Plus it comes with Pre painted body , so will need to get body sets as well . I'm going to get a few kits and bodys .

I'm sure Tamiya will do very well with this . Now i hope they bring out the MK1 next year  and  a MK1 cortina the

following year  ....

Pretty certain my wallet ran away at the thought of that........

Anyway, I don't see the Mk1 models in the future, but rather what the MF-01X was originally designed for.... as the chassis for a re-re of a couple of other iconic Tamiya rally car bodies 

This release raises the popularity of the MF-01X, and makes the tooling for THOSE TWO worth the expense....

Hold on. Front motor, front independent suspension, live axle at the back?  That’s a CC01 if you take the front drivetrain out. 
 

I wonder if the l and l escort bodies would fit on a dropped one of those...

I don’t think they was ever an issue with Ford  licensing.. they released a Mustang GT4 last year..

Its Ferrari and BMW that are gone

Well thought I had but maybe not. I have now though. Am a bit confused as the Timetunnel site has it listed without ESC at one price and another with ESC at higher price? Funny as the box says includes ESC unless my eysight is worse than I thought.. Roll on Jan/Feb 2021

If past kit boxes are anything to go by, the "Torque-tuned motor plus electronic speed controller included" is likely a sticker applied to some kits and not others, as some come packaged with them and others don't.

Yeah, lower price for one without an ESC if you have your own electronics already. Been doing it this way for years, even back when I worked there as a teen! Because you would get people complain about the old fluorescent orange sticker that said "Electronic Speed Controller Included" even if they had clearly ordered the version with it removed and saved themselves 15-20 quid, we took to carefully removing the little label from the box. It was a nightmare removing those stickers in a cold packing room, you had the rub them first to warm the glue up!
