I'm going to miss out, one way or another... I'm pretty excited about this. It underscores my FEAR in the Hospital. That, and the LONELINESS of not being allowed any visitors, and my last line of sanity, cute Nurses, are practically in HAZMAT Suits with big Rubber Boots! 😖😭😭😭 Hang on a minute there - you say you have cute nurses in hazmat suits and rubber boots there?? Separately molded plastic bumper, side mirrors and fog lamps. Polycarbonate front and rear light cases are compatible with LEDs This is all excellent news, although the long wheelbase means I will have to alter my own plans. This means it’s almost exactly 1/10 scale for once. By my calculations it should be 240 mm to be exact so not far out!

The only disadvantage to this is that most of the current bunch of aftermarket stickers ie L&L are based around a body that sits on the 1/10 touring car chassis so will not fit without some judicious trimming!! Joe Bo 94 Posted November 23, 2020 Such exciting news from Tamiya, yeah there's gripes over the wheels and chassis but its fun working out ways to improve it already before a kit has even landed on our shores! There was mention of alternative decals, I've got a body on order and am going to be looking at creating a few different schemes. If there's interest I'll look into getting some printed up, but I'm sure L&L Models will be on it. A long, long time ago I made a Bjorn Waldegard British Airways livery for the old 257mm wheelbase Controlfreax body, I really want to try the red Cossack hair spray livery, the Rothmans one of course and perhaps the Andrews Heat for Hire. Wheels With the 257mm touring car Escort bodies available, the standard Tamiya m-chassis minilites coupled with larger tyres such as Hornet fronts, or the new high sidewall Racing Truck tyres worked perfectly. See this diagram I made to roughly judge the proportion of the larger Hornet smoothie tyres fitted to m-chassis wheels for a few different wheelbases, you can see for a touring car chassis (I've listed it as TT01 here) the proportions look great: https://www.tamiyaclub.com/showroom_model.asp?cid=96566&id=32151 Its all about the hub to tyre sidewall ratio! The m-chassis wheels and tyres that come with the new Escort kit are going to look a little weird to me, the hub will be too big, and the sidewall too skinny, I really want to create/find/bodge some smaller wheels and larger sidewall tyres. What is really needed are some Street Jam style fake sidewall tyres but scaled down for m-chassis cars. I love Tamiya's Alpine, and have had two, but ended up selling them as I just couldn't live with the massive wheels, same with the original Mini and the Fiat 500 Abarth. I totally get why they are made for performance and ease of use over a few different models, but imagine driving the new Escort on proper skinny forest stage tyres, or small and wide tarmac setup, it would be great. The amazing 3D printed work of members like donut_V2 is a really exciting step in the right direction. I'm currently looking at 1/16 crawler wheels and tyres, I've got a set of Chinese unbranded tyres from eBay that fit the m-chassis wheels perfectly giving a high sidewall, but the overall size is just too big for the m-chassis cars. Other than the aforementioned hen's teeth HPI wheels and tyres, what other options are out there?

It looks really good. I have gold minilites waiting and I’m certain there are enough Rothmans stickers out there !! I would like to see a rear view from the same sort of angle
Mad Ax 9147 Posted November 27, 2020 Hmm, that's actually not bad. It looks like there's space under the arches to get some wider wheels in, if we can find or make some. It's been a long time since I looked at 3D printing anything and I didn't have a lot of joy with wheels, but if I could design an M-chassis minilite with a slightly wider offset, I think that would be a good compromise - M-chassis rally blocks and tarmac tyres will fit, and the diameter will be appropriate for the hubs and suspension. Possibly I could shrink the spoke size and add a fake sidewall. Something to look at in the new year, maybe...

Almost 2 months ago, I came up with the idea of using a M08 Chassis under the Escort.... I'm sure it wasn't a ground breaking idea - or that I was the very first to come up with it. But I'm entirely MIFFED that I mentioned it on one of RC Kicks Videos - and now he's completely claiming it as his own!! 😠😠 I realize that this is completely trivial, in light of what I've just been through. But now I'm really hoping that my Inheritance hurrys up and gets here - so I can at least BEAT Gavin to the Build!!
Badcrumble 4181 Posted November 29, 2020 At least you'll be rid of those red hubs by going M08 @Carmine AA. Glad you're feeling better!
