Mk2 escort

so has anyone managed to get one of these yet? In Australia, I can only find one listing on an hobby store webpage locally but its still listed as coming soon, an no price

I can see a couple forsale on eBay from overseas, but they are very expensive (compared to other MF-01X releases) even without freight. I tried a couple of USA hobby stores, but they aren't posting overseas.

I've not waited for a Tamiya release before, and I am keen to buy this one, but I must say, I am a little underwhelmed. Maybe I am being too picky, but I compare this to recent Lego purchase my son wanted for a new release set. It was a collectors Ninjago set and if you were a VIP member, you got to order it direct from LEGO two weeks early. My son was keen and didn't want to miss out, so we signed up to LEGO direct as a VIP member and ordered, expecting a fairly lengthy delivery time. Most LEGO orders we'd placed outside of Australia (mainly Bricklinks stuff) was usually 6 to 8 weeks. It was released in the 14th of Jan, and we had it delivered, in our hands by about 17/18th Jan! Although I shouldn't be surprised, once I thought I was missing a piece from a set, got onto the website and lodged a missing piece form. It was not only very easy to do, I have the missing piece (which actually turned out not to be missing at all, I just didn't look properly ) within 2 days.

Ordered from Fusion today, looking forward to not having to paint a body! Went for a bearing kit and no esc. Apart from mini CVA's what is everyone doing for dampers? Assume they are 50mm long.

I've had my despatch note from Fusion and a quick catch up with Joanne (she was just checking I didn't want two!) but it is being delivered to the office. Not quite sure when I'll see it...

Yup, hence my frustration post regarding SMS. I realise the current climate makes it tougher, but they are just not forthcoming with information. I had issues with my XV01 LD Spec kit, and my mate just never received his Wild One that he pre ordered through another Aus store, without any updates from SMS. Just a poor operator unfortunately for us in Aus

yeah, disappointing, especially as Toy Traders did such a poor job too. I just checked Fusion Hobbies in the UK, and that's the cheapest I have seen so far, but its about $300 AUD delivered. I'll probably go with that option.

At $300 delivered, I think I'll grab one of the bodysets when they get released, and put it on the MF-01X  chassis I already have....

So frustrated that it's going to cost us that much

That would be an option, if I had an MF-01X chassis already :o

It seems that maybe Mr T is collaborating with Italeri as they do with quite a lot of static kits

Was tempted to buy the Italeri Mk2 Escort a while back ( and also the MK2 Transit 'Gas Board' van - what !!  )  ;)

$225 was the cheapest I paid for a MF-01X kit (Mercedes) which I thought was about right, but now the cheapest I can find is $255 (inc delivery). Both the Beelte and Jimmy cost me around $300 a pop, and lots seem to be priced way over $350, but I guess stock is limited now. $300 is about my limit for this, but only because I think these will go quickly, otherwise I'm tempted to wait it out a bit.

It is a pity they don't offer the chassis separately, I guess its not a common thing to do?

I managed to buy a new chassis kit sans body for my first one, and for the second one, just ordered the MF-01X specific parts sprues and added them to my stash of other Mini and TL01 parts. Job done, and cheap, just the way I like it .

I don't think there would be a large market for the chassis on it's own.... people are only buying it now because of the body, and a number of those are considering a different chassis even before arrival.

The Escort is a vey old model. Uses Esci moulds from I guess 20+ years ago. The body and ancillary bits are not bad but the front suspension is pants. Way too narrow. I abandoned mine. I still have all the bits. One day I will transplant the engine, transmission and wheels into a racing 2CV I’ve got planned. Just got a text to say mine will be delivered today between 11.30 and 12.30👏👏👏👏😍😍😀😀😃😄😁

Love the MK2 it was my 1st road legal car back in the day.

Never really taken to this chassis though, this is not based on any 1st hand experience, it kinda just looks to small and low slung to be useful.

So I’ll be reading this thread with interest.

Would the body shell fit a TT02 or XV01 chassis?

No, it's short and narrow, for a Mini chassis. 225mm wheelbase.

If you want a Mk.2 for a TT01/2 or XV01, best to go to L&L Models....

No it’s too short. We forget how diddy family saloons were in those days. The current VW Polo is quite a bit bigger than the original Golf!

it will fit directly onto a M08 chassis, no modifications. RC Kicks goes through it,

Yeah I’m not impressed as waiting over 6 months for my wild one and then not giving the LHS any info to pass into me is just poor form
