It's the small details

Recommended Posts

I found and picked this little detail kit off ebay from china. I am kind of impressed. Didn't expect much, but I like them. Going to put them on my GF01 Wild Willy build for a little added detail. They come all shiny and new, but who ever heard of a shiny and new logging chain, and tow & recovery equipment? ;) So, painted them to

simulate putting in the time.

Are those metal parts? The hooks look incredible.. like full scale ones. If metal, did you chip the paint and do real rust? How’d you do it?!?! Might sound odd. But I look at those hooks and I can almost feel 15kg of rusty steel construction site hardware...

I'm not sure actually. I think they are cast metal, but not sure, I painted them with a flat black wash, then with a polyscale rust orange I use for weathering my model rail road rolling stock wheels. I was shocked how well they are made and look coming from china.

great job on the weathering, you are dead right in that all shiny and new isn't what is attached to vehicles in the real world
