Problemchild 2149 Posted December 2, 2020 Ordered this in May but covid impacted delivery and it only came in at the beginning of Oct.... it’s a very nice kit and builds differently to many other kits - but a bit like the mantaray so you build each diff first Adding the suspension set up off the side of each diff Rear: Front: with the very interesting articulation of the steering joints Then because the chassis is not really a bathtub style one, you install the top deck and part of that top deck is the pre moulded driver this holds up the build somewhat as you need to get the brushes out midway and then the helmet - I gave it a primer coat first then use humbrol on top And used part of the racing harness decals then this top half of the of the chassis bolts onto the diffs JJ
Problemchild 2149 Posted December 2, 2020 Once the top deck was added, things like the ARBs could be fitted now....the reason I ordered a hotshot was because of the funky suspension layout And being an engineer I was eager to see how it all worked building up the 2 x chunky shocks which are pretty normal shocks inside some red casings the mechanics of the front are pretty simple - sort of like pushrod suspension however the rear set up is pretty ingenious Up/down movement turns into left/right movement turns into up/down again which then rotated around a pivot at the top and compresses the spring JJ
Problemchild 2149 Posted December 2, 2020 And finishing off the chassis Frame on... and then the metal roof and the small access panel for people with v small fingers - assume it was there to swap crystals maybe? Answers on a postcard? Weird little machined metal trim pieces front bumper and here’s the driveshaft from underneath - the FRP battery cage makes the back half of the floor (like the wild one) and there is the second half of the chassis at the front which I didn’t get a pic of JJ
Problemchild 2149 Posted December 2, 2020 Cutting out the body using the score and fold and painting was pretty simple box art silver backed With decals Then matte black spray of the spots and I cut the spot decal out close rather than just having the round decal just waiting for my gold wheels to arrive and it’ll be finished JJ
foz75 93 Posted December 2, 2020 Looks good, mine is still unfinished... Which gold wheels, and where from? Am leaning towards box art but with gold wheels too...
mtbkym01 3946 Posted December 3, 2020 The "Weird little machined metal trim pieces" are replicas of the original heatsinks that the Hotshot wore with distinction, much better looking than the ceramic based ones
