RC plans for 2021

We had the same thing over here in the uk late seventies early eighties (that hurts to admit!!!) pretty sure it was scholastic that ran ours as well. Once a term you`d get your little catalogue of what was available, tick your box pay your money then wait. Seemed like forever but in reality it was only a fortnight or so. I seem to remember getting some joke book and the secret diary of Adrian Mole and a star wars annual we all went daft for

I remember them as a wee lad, my mum reading them to me when I was off school sick. That's before computer games! Thing we're more simple back then

"Life is what happens to us while we are making other plans." -- Allen Saunders, Reader's Digest, 1957

Pretty hard to make a plan these days.  I grab bits of time here and there, but there's no point in trying to make grand projections (for me).

As it is highly likely the Communists UK government will keep lockdowns in place until at least May next year I guess I'm going to get good at postal racing..... :D

Don't plan much, just get the two remaining Avante class buggies rebuilt (An Egress and the 2nd Avante2001), possibly buy either a Schumacher EVO L1 4WD buggy or a Schumacher Icon F1 car.

Main thing is to keep having fun running the cars I have. :)

Ive reached kit saturation and am going to put the brakes on in 2021.  I have 2x VQS coming my way, an LMT, and going to order a Fighting Buggy.  After that, going to try to take a break from new kits for a bit and actually do some builds.  I have even sold two recently: an SMT10 kit that will be replaced by the LMT and an RC10T6.  Possibly another 1 or 2 to go.

i am thinking i may get myself a piece of tamiya royalty and anything else that takes my fancy;)

Based on your name you already have Tamiya royalty?

I don't see any new kits coming my way next year, I have all that I want. I can't rule them out though as I haven't build a tractor truck or SRB and those builds interest me. All the race cars are up to date and won't need upgrading for a few years. The only outlier is my son may improve to the point he can run a 21.5T touring car. He got a genuine 3rd place in his first outing in the TT02 class last race meet.

2021 will hopefully see more race meets, attending all the offroad meets as usual but also onroad as well. I plan to go to all local ones, and hope to venture further afield to some of the clubs a couple of hours away.

For 2021 the main goal is to complete my TopForce DB01 Hybrid. With the current slow speed in updates I hope to be ready in June.

The other project is to build my TA02 Racing Special Chassis replica. At the moment I only have a few parts, but hope these will getting more for Christmas.

I also want to do some racing at the local track. Normaly for 1:8 Off Road, but just for fun it will work for 1:10.

ha ha thanks tbh i do still have my original top-force and would love tamiya to release the fable'd one the evo as i didn't get it the first time round due to cost .

i was getting the escort mk2 but i don't like the small chassis and the shells that come one them as they look shrunk to me so i will have to do with my mk2 i have on my tt-01 chassis.

but what i think i will get is gonna be in stock until feb/march next year and i think it will take me to tonys place of worship as he gave me a fantastic price on the re/re topforce and manta-ray plus my reefa trailer so i hope he will come through again.

i already have the 2 srb's and a couple of trucks plus the bruiser and i cant really top them tbh apart from the tf evo(witch i hope for every year)

I've got a few unfinished rc projects and finish my super astute I've also for the very first time in my adult life getting a rc car/buggy/truck from Santa claus! My family told me to put a list of rc's that I would like and they would pick one from said list.........to send to the big man himself! So that's what I'll be doing in January next year because I have 2 weeks off I haven't had any holiday since March!

My plans are:

1) Finish the Clod Buster build that was gifted to me after my Cousin passed away 10 years ago.

2) Build and use my Novafox and Super Hotshot.

3) Restore my original Boomerang, then thrash it again.

4) Finish the GF-01CB Jimny I started a couple of months ago. Just the body left to do.

That'll do for starters.

I'm keeping the plans to a minimum.  I want the Escort Mk2 body for sure.  I may "need" a second M06 or an M08.  I want one new off-road chassis.  I'd like a Kyosho Turbo Scorpion or Outlaw Rampage Pro but I think I'll end up settling on a Element RC Gatekeeper.  Tamiya need to re-release the King Cab or Hilux Monster Racer or they're going to lose my love.  :D

I'll have to wait and see what the budget is like but I've been looking at air-brushes.  It's a bit of a distant hope but if I can get one I can think of a couple of new hobbies I also want to try.  I've been watching people customize Hot Wheels cars and that looks like fun.

@Blista with you in the Hot Wheels. I bought a bunch of old cars to try out on ages ago and never got round to it. The pity is that my son is growing past the tiny car stage and is now more into Lego. I had dreams of filling shelves in his bedroom with classic cars!

Ultimately, it was the airbrushing that put me off as I don't really have a suitable work area, limited time <insert usual excuses here>.

I hope you get the chance to try it out, if you do, please share the results!

I'm being pulled towards building a Sand Scorcher(|re-re), my reawakening into air-cooled dubs must be to blame.:D

I have no idea if they are any good, it is the first time I'm considering a car purely as a shelfer.

They are pretty poor IMO but honestly I wouldn’t let that bother you.

As an occasional runner, to look pretty on a shelf, customise or just to be totally nostalgic about there is little that comes close to it.

I’ve owned 6 and I wouldn’t be without my Rere shelf queen occasional runner 👍

@Blista@Badcrumble I'm with you on the airbrushing. My wife got me a nice airbrush kit for xmas a few years ago, and I haven't used it yet! I was going to start doing my HO scale slot car bodies with it, but we moved to another state and everything got temporarily halted. Maybe I'll finally give it a go this winter.

Get round to building my Top Cat. Bought for the last lockdown but thankfully I was able to work through it in between getting and beating covid! Also moving so may wait till that's completed and I finally have a proper large and heated man cave 😁

Still crossing everything that Kyosho re release the Optima Mid but I'm definitely getting an Escort Mk2. Reckon a rear wheel drive with a gyro would be fun.

If it's the tamiya MK2 that you are getting, it's 4WD Chassis.

I had thoughts of getting a new kit, but I think I'm going to get what I have handling the best that I can. Maybe the odd bodyshell if anything comes available and lots of spare tires. I'm looking to try out different types of tires.

If I can get everything else running as good as my M05 I will be happy.

Hey, I think my only car purchase of 2020 has been my cheapie FTX Outlaw - that's smaller than most years! Of course, I've spent lots on parts for my trail rig and other projects for the future .

And if Tamico discount the Axial SCX10iii again I'm not missing out this time...

Yup figured that, thought it might be fun to disconnect the front by leaving out the connecting center drive shaft. Then as the motor is slung out the rear pop a gyro on it to make it controllable. I've a thing for having my rc cars the same wheel drive as the full scale vehicle. Can't have a four wheel drive Escort Mk2..😉

Will search for Phat body's MK2. All ready have an M-06 so another option is always good. Ta for the suggestion.

This made me wonder what I had bought and kept this year and how long I have owned my other Tamiya for-

Lunchbox 2013

Sand Scorcher 2013

Toyota Hilux 2013

Wild Willy 2014

Ford Ranger 2014

Blazing Blazer 2015

Wild One 2018

Honda City Turbo 2018

Super Champ 2019

Konghead 2020

Much more interesting to me than anyone else 🤦
