Another update. Finally, alu c-hubs and knuckles arrived. These are from re-re Optima and bolt on fit.

The turnbuckles at the picture are intended for use on TT02, but have appropriate length to use them as upper suspension arms.

Alas, the original Alpha king pins had too much slop, so I've ordered some bushings from HPI which have the dimensions I needed.

Digging into web showed that the particular chassis could be equipped with original dust cover) Long story short - found on Ebay in Germany a brand new cover (Kyosho part No. AE76 in case if someone interested). Arrived today, trimmed and installed.

I'm not sure if I need to make some holes for air circulation near to the motor. Will keep an eye on it while running.

Those Optima parts look great! Are they actual kyosho ones or aftermarket?

Thanks. They are aftermarket, bought them on eBay.

Another bunch of upgrades arrived)))

- new motor by Kyosho 15T (will keep black can Tamiya for my next TAMIYA build). Can’t wait to see how it runs) perhaps, maybe someone has this motor and can advise how it performs compare to sport tuned, rz, bz....

- adjustable steering rods (direct fit from TT01)

- hard servo saver spring (this one is for Fazer and I’m not sure if will fit, but fingers crossed)

- Alu rear hubs from Optima (alas, they are without the plastic inserts to adjust the toe, so need to order them separately... one month more to await)

I’m quite busy these days and have no time slot to put all these goodies right now. Hopefully will do it during the weekend. Will keep you posted )))

I have also replaced most of the screws with hex bolts. What a beauty, isn’t it?)

This is the same motor in my Kyosho Outlaw Rampage - its pretty pokey and in a much smaller lighter chassis like yours it should fly along nicely.

  • Thanks 1

Thanks @Superluminal, good to know))  I’m now waiting for a dry weather to run it.

Did you break in the motor prior to run?

Hi all!

Just a little update on the car)

It runs great. The 15T motor is more than enough for this chassis and a rally style body. I have stripped the diffs and they shows no wear at all (I have run about 20 packs of 2S 4200 Lipo).

Alas, the body is not that shiny anymore and there are some heavy cracks after two hard crashes which I repaired with black tape - looks okay for the runner. Now I’m considering another body for the shelf.

In general, the chassis is very durable. After two smashes into the wall without braking only the front post and one arm were cracked (I’m not an experienced RC driver))). Luckily, I bought a used GP version of the chassis which shares the same diffs, arms, etc which I use now as a spare parts.

Upgrades. I have changed the rear hubs for Optima 2016 optional alu ones.

Now the rear toe is adjustable by the hub inserts. Also added the rods to adjust the rear camber.

The pivot balls required a bit of dremel work to fit the hubs. In the result, everything fits and works great.

Now I will experiment with different setups to find the most suitable for me)

Servo arrived. Declared to be pretty fast.

I have shortened the wiring and braided it.

And did the same with ESC 🙂

Now I’m considering to solder the motor wires directly to ESC for clean look 👀.

Stay tuned )

The wiring is great! Most of mine look like they have an old birds nest stuffed in them.

That motor looks just about perfect in performance in your video.

You should try this braided lines. Simple to work with. I'm not sure if it really works as a protection, but you will get satisfaction of the clean look 100%)))

Since the foam bumper actually cannot be used on this chassis due to a specific design of the original plastic bumper, I was using a 2mm piece of plastic cut as a foam bumper support. It was a working solution, but not quite strong and not very esthetic.

So, friend of mine made a custom bumper support 🙂. Looks super cool, but still need some amendments in the design.
