Good page for wheel ideas.

I think Lancia 037 wheels sprayed yellow worked well.

Thank you ;)

Shell looks good and it has the classic 959 proportions.
Not sure on the wheels.

I realise the body is just sitting on the chassis, but is the wheelbase ever so slightly short for the body? Body looks fantastic by the way

tbh it’s hard to tell

the 959 wheelbase was 211mm  and this wheelbase is 210mm

it may be that the kamtec shell isn’t quite the right length but can’t see why that would be

Could it be the rear knuckles toe in?

Once I’ve decided on a shell, I can look at setting the chassis up :)

the dampers are v stiff which probably doesn’t help

Both rear spoilers getting multiple dustings in white primer

And the kamtec cockpit in black primer

And the drivers heads glued and filled

I meant the toe in can make the wheelbase look shorter than it is.

Again similar process to the Kamtec

tape on the front decals and then flow the side ones from there

SmGaTOF.jpg

this gives you the line where blue changes to white

Focus on positioning of the decal around the light units

c3bUlgO.jpg

And it’s a balance between following the body line and leaving enough space for the red decal

once you have them In place mask the inside.

zwq1PNc.jpg

it’s all v easy to mask bar the area inside the rear panels

I’m using the MCI mask kit and there are a lot of extra masks for various bits over the kamtec masks - I’ve only used the window masks, headlamp (didn’t use them in the kamtec) and the rear boot grill.

i also learnt from the kamtec and masked the rear central spoiler mount a little square which will be black

this is the complex area... it’s almost impossible to get in there and it’s a v tight radius - best I can do

aUC8bm8.jpg

Once all the edge lines are masked you can fill the middle area - make sure the seal is made well ;)

I’ve painted the yellow under area first too - this is causing some difficulty as the humbrol yellow takes a LONG time to dry so is holding me up now :(

This is really fascinating and something that I'm going to WANT to do!! Since I plan on using a M08 Chassis under my Escort.... It seems I'll have a spare MF01X Chassis. This is an awesome use for it! 😉

I’m tending g towards the kamtec shell for running

I’ll do a full breakdown of reasons at the end

1-BCA54-DD-9-E8-C-4083-A8-A6-5754-C225-A

CFDA0618-43-AC-422-C-B2-B5-4-D694-E41-D3

They were the best options i could find 5 years ago :(

I used some clone Pirelli P treads from China, I guess they were standard touring car size.

With the cold I’m keeping the shell warm and dry on the rad then popping outside for a quick coat and then back inside again

IhShwCR.jpg

But is looking good (PS4)

qX2Voc9.jpg

I thought this time I’d back the blue in silver before the white and black

GWqdPk6.jpg

I will go for the PS1 next and get good coverage and then go heavy on some of the white primer I have that gives excellent coverage before finally unmasking the black areas and a few final Coats

GwRyArF.jpg

And a bit more detail and coverage on the cockpit
