A Photo of Your Most Recent Tamiya RC/Build

My latest build isn't a Tamiya, or even an rc car.

I have taken on the restoration of a 1975 Kavan Jet Ranger rc helicopter for a friend of mine. This last flew 20 years ago, the engine is siezed and everything is covered with old fuel and cobwebs.

I put a Lancia rally next to it to giva an idea of scale.

I'm looking forward to this one.

That's probably a 700 size heli. It's huge!

Its always good to try another colour scheme👍 and I also thought the masking that you get with the kit is ok but not brilliant so I use a mixture of making my own and the kit masking

20190713_222544.jpg

Brilliant! Exactly what I had in mind after the body was complete.  On one hand, I was torn because the standard masking was so intricate and I felt I would regret not choosing the box art scheme.  Not to mention, matching the colors (well.. colours:P) of the bottom sticker along the side is crucial.  However, looking forward, I'd like to mask my own and use the stock decals and perhaps some black pinstriping to accent the lot when it's done.  I really like how yours turned out and it inspires me even further!

Bugsy got a new body, bumper, bumper brace, front suspension arms and spindles, aluminum shocks, bearings and a traxxas titan 12t...

Next is new chassis, new rear swingarms, and another lexan body but more like the og monster beetle body made from the original bolink mold...

Yeah go for it! I'm always a big fan of box art but I'm also a massive fan of using your imagination with some help and inspiration from people/forum members creations after all it was you who built the buggy in the first place so what better way to show your build off by doing you own body design? (And what is it with the rest of the world and spelling?.......😉)

I more or less finished a Tomahawk, it's got almost every upgrade on it (the ones it doesn't have I'm just waiting to come back into stock (HG Shocks)), and I still have the tyres to paint.  It's running Le Mans 240S ESC and 19.5T motor, Power HD R12 Servo and a Futaba antenna less receiver R314SB-E.
(Not a Tamiya, sorry.)

Cool driver.. where did you find him?

In the kit. :D

I spent a while painting him with a metallic red helmet and shading on the overalls.  I also added a piece of plastic for the visor.

👍

My last F1 body I raced with was William FW16. Last week I switched to Kimi’s Alfa Romeo

Im not entirely sure, but it uses an OS Max 60 motor. The kit was made by Kavan, who are long since defunct, but there is a company in the US which has started reproducing the kit at $1000.

Must be from the 90s if using OS engines.

The kit is from 1975. OS engines have been going since the late 60s. If you look on OS website, they have a timeline of their engines, and the OS 60 fsr as fitted to the heli, dates exactly to 1975.

I didn't, I just put the receiver right next to the servo. ^_^

Finally built this last week after having it stored away for years. Was going to leave it as a shelfer but couldn't resist giving it a spin.

Cleaned ball raced, ESC, block tyres upgraded prop shaft. Body stripped repaired and sprayed with gunmetal in gloss for more of a urban cruiser look
