The last kit I built in the middle, just because I wanted to build a pan car, the subaru next to it was the last chassis I got working with lipo as it was never designed for modern technology. The toyota supra was one of my last race cars from early 2000s, the black escort cosworth just out of sight next to the subaru was the first kit I got in 1990s which is a ta01. I never sell much, just keep it on a shelf after use.

Looks good.  Which pancar is that?  The last pancar I had was a TC3-Touring (I think it was called) which ran standard touring car bodies.   I would rip up the place blowing past modified 12turn (brushed since late 90's) sedans with my 27turn it was hilarious.    I never raced with it, but during practice I'd pull it out for fun.

For bashing I use the 962 body. Eventually I will paint and finish the NASCAR body that came with the kit. That one will be used for track events as I expect it to get knocked around a bit. The width of the rear is 197mm and the front measures 190mm. The overall length without a body is 343mm and the wheelbase on this particular chassis is at its longest setting at 270mm. This pan can have three settings for wheelbase-and I think the shortest one measures 260mm. The front A -arms are moved back or forward-and, of course, you must move the steering servo accordingly. Mine has a permanent setting that uses servo mounts and two screws from one of my Tamiya kits because I don't like using only two sided tape to secure it.

Thanx for the interest. I hope this info helped. Pan cars are a blast-but they work best on the smoothest pavement.

Thank you sir for taking the time to measure it. I do like the simplicity of these. There's a Mazda 787b body that pops up once in a while on feebay and it's of unknown brand and softly uncertain dimensions. I have been thinking that a simple chassis like these pan cars would make for an interesting match and a cool project!

It's a carisma racing chassis, it can also be an f1 with the wings and body.

Very cool.  Pancars are so much fun to drive.

My pan car is an RJ Speed (formerly Bolink) 3.2 pan car kit with an RJS 962 body. You need to supply a motor, esc, radio, and steering servo. I just use standard 2 channel stuff-nothing fancy. A Hobbywing 1060 brushed esc is my go-to because I can use a brushed motor down to about 13 turns-but right now a Torque Tuned 540 is plenty. I am an old school brushed/NiMh warrior. I've seen and heard too many horror stories about LiPo batteries and the potential for bad things to happen-and the extra expense and maintenance that goes with them. I realize they have more power than what I use, but the extra speed, to me anyway, isn't worth the bother. I just plug-n-play with my NiMh stuff. Not a dig on folks who use LiPo-I realize they're in the majority now-but it's just a choice I have made.

@Glowingtomato

Any chance we could have some close ups on the engine area, it looks great and I’m quite keen to build one but wanted to detail a bit in that area.

Thanks Nick

Here's a picture. I was going post one from the body manual as well but I think I threw it away. There is some good potential for detail in there. I just sprayed it black and the silver and red parts are decals.

I bought a Kyosho Mad Van a few months back. Its fast af, does maybe 35mph and handles great. But I seriously had way more fun running this thing yesterday. (And wrenching on it too)

Love the old school. Its got a comical vibe to it. The bouncing and lack of handling makes it really fun. Really glad I found this hobby again.

Thanks, I really like the clear part, it looks great! Now I’m tempted on another one with a super tidy electronics install.

That might be the L&L models one - I have one on an F103GT chassis. The quality of the shell is pretty good but the decals arent great. They arent very sticky on curved surfaces and isnt a lot of opacity to the colours.

It fits 190mm wide chassis and the wheelbase can be cut as you like as they wheel arches dont have a particularly strong mould line. I lined the shell up on the chassis first and cut them out with a compass circle cutter thing.

The body shell does have a bit of a strange flare in width at the back which means its too wide for the wheels so I glued on some fishing line to hold in pull it back in and hook on to the chassis. The Tamiya Group C body also does this to a certain extent.

I want to thank @JennyMo for her comical SandScorcher inspiration and also @Busdriver for all the one off cars you both have been making for even more inspiration!

I will update this post when I have the exhaust tip for the rear.. but for now..

Started here with a Monster / Blitzer Beetle body with a Blitzer nose cone.. since I knew nothing about these Beetles.

My first foray back into Tamiya kits. An Xmas present this year from my wife. I owned a couple growing up - a Falcon (I think!) and a Vanquish in the early 90s. I'm also building a couple of TT02Bs with my boys and I'm waiting for a Durga to arrive for me! Oh joy, mechanical speed controllers are a thing of the past!

Anyone know where I can get these scale mirrors?   Are they the Traxxas Bronco ones perhaps?

Thx.....

Love this colour scheme - you executed it beautifully!!

I remember mine ripping through the frost when I finished building it just after Christmas (1980-something) - I had some gbx problems though - you?

My parents never told me what happened to it ! -_--_-
