Baja King Bodyshell replacement

Recommended Posts

Hi Folks,

I have a Baja King which has been in the loft for ages. I broke the chassis many years ago. Found out that the chassis is still available so going to rebuild, with new bearings over Christmas. The body work is in poor shape, cracked and flaky paint. I am unable to find a replacement but gather some other bodies fit the TL-01B chassis? I love the off-road look, any ideas of what types fit and where to purchase?

Thank you in advance, Chris

The Baja King and Baja Champ bodies both fit the TL-01B, as do their HBX clones.

If you don't mind getting a bit creative with the trimming, many other buggy bodyshells can also fit, possibly with extra cutouts to clear the propshaft gear covers. I found  a cheap Chinese one from a "Great Vigor Model Super Cobra" that looked okay for example, being wide enough to conceal the transverse battery:

Reproduction bodies are available but quite expensive to get to the UK

You can get a Sand Scorcher body on there

and Kamtec do a lexan alternative if you don't fancy a hard body.
