At Tamico VQS is in stock but the price is cind of climbing up to Avante. For me it seems a Top-Force would be a far far better buy. Why is VQS so pricy?, was it not supose to be cheapmans Avante?

Welcome to 2020, wait till "21" certain items and things are going to either totally disappear or be in such high demand you won't be able to get that item or it's too expensive to even bother with. You can't eat or drink'em

Because the market for the Vanquish is people who probably already own a Top Force and an Avante and want the VQS to add to their collection irrespective of the price, its weak plastics, performance not as good as a similar priced mordern buggy, driver with no arms and a screw in his noggin etc etc etc etc - to the people who make up that market those issues are not important as they just want a new build Vanquish / VQS.

To pay as much as Sand Scorcher is just not right. As i look closer at the quality it should be between the Grasshopper and Top-Force. If demand and collectors are the only reason for this price its not for me, at all

mine was 379 canadian.. wasn't the worst.  After doing some more research i'm a little disappointed though.  Seems the rear shock tower mount is still a weak point, the silver can motor really sucks too.  I feel like if it has been about 400 bucks and included a decent motor and hi caps for instance, it would be better value.

Have you seen the price of nib avante though? This is a cheap man's avante!

I guess this must depend on where you are in the world, and hence what prices these things are available at. I'm in the UK, and currently I could get (well, pre-order) a NIB Avante for £395, or I could buy today a VQS for £305. That's only a £90 difference, and hence given the plethora of carbon and alu parts in the former, it makes, to my mind at least, the VQS took very expensive for what it is, relative to the Avante.

Out of interest where have you seen it for £395? Cheapest I have found is £450! That's more or less 50% more than a VQS. (Which I do agree is rather expensive)

Rcmart have them on sale for 412 usd which is a blinder of a price.

That is a bargain. But add $77 for shipping. Plus vat, plus customs fees, plus royal mail handling fees and it's not far off the UK price  Different if you manage to dodge customs though...

ETA they also do the vqs for $289

Seemed like top dollar for a low spec kit to me  - I couldn't see the point! I was also really surprised that it wasn't cheaper than it is at Tamico...

Tamico sold it for 299€ in the beginning, but raised the price afterwards up to 313,49€. Never seen that from Tamico with a new kit. Seidel sold it for 289€, but is already sold out and saying they will not restock! M personal borderline is probably 280€, as my original Vanquish is running now and iproved at the weak points. I would take the VQS body for my shelfer and the rest parts as spares. It´s so strange with VQS: While the Terra Scorcher spare parts were even available before the kit in Germany, still there are no VQS spares around...

Tamico will probably sell the VQS one day in their Christmas deals for below 300€, that´s probably the day I will strike. But maybe not. So hard to decide...

Although I´m a total Vanquish fan...

I Order from RCmart and the order goes straight trough, i believe the reason is that they mark it as a Toy (do not know how this is in UK), the set the price down to around The Grasshopper lvl on my orders. Stil The VQS is right now on price lvl with Sand Scorcher and other much higher Quality kits, so the price is wrong even if it is a small jump up to Avante

There are so many variables that I think its hard to accurately conclude why the VQS seems so pricey. For all we know it may be related to Covid. My guess (just opinion or more of a feeling on my part) is that Tamiya seems to price their rereleases one of two ways. Many are affordable and reasonably priced. Some are priced at what they were BITD and others like the Terra Scorcher and Bigwig were actually cheaper then they were originally. Then there are those that hold some type of special place. The Avante, Egress and Bruiser are all significantly higher than they originally were and I think Tamiya knows they can get away with asking more for these types of vehicles. Honestly, with inflation, the price increase is to be expected. We might look at it as we are lucky to get the "lesser" vehicles as cheap as we do. The VQS (I hate that name change) is a tricky one because it straddles the line. Originally, it wasn't much more than the Terra Scorcher. On the other hand the VQS ties into the upper class Avante family so there's the temptation to price it higher along those lines, which they seem to have done. The problem is, when you look at kit contents/materials, it doesn't add up so you wind up with fans questioning its seemingly high price. It kept myself and others from buying one, but Tamiya will sell every one it makes regardless. Such is life.

Ask any sane person if we've overpaid for any (or all) of our "toys" and they will most likley say yes :)   Never paid attention to the VQS as it doesn't interest me, but after looking into it I'd say it's probably a bit expensive for what you get.  I'm sure there's some sort of reasoning behind it, but if you like it and it makes you happy go for it.

I'm a fan of the original Vanquish because it's one of those designs (mostly the shell) back in the day that was quite stealthy looking and unique, and it was supposed to be the poor man's Avante. But I do think the re-re is a bit overpriced when you consider other kits or brands you can get today. I'm not complaining about not being able to afford it, it just doesn't suit me. I've seen the original perform many times (my brother and friend had the Vanquish when it came out) and I have to honestly say, no matter how much they worked on it or spent money on it, it was frustrating and underwhelming. They eventually sold theirs.

I told my brother when the re-re was announced but he didn't care about it at all. He even remarked "why?" I on the other hand pre-ordered it, but then eventually cancelled it. I really couldn't decide with this one because part of me wants it for the nostalgia. But, whenever I think about the Vanquish/VQS, a perplexing celebrity comes to mind—like a lot of hype, attention, and drama, but not much talent and personality. And maybe that's totally fine but I just can't get past the thought. I really think Tamiya markets the VQS purely for nostalgia and the fact that it's in an interesting part of Tamiya's RC history/timeline. It's not a good buy for mechanical, quality, or performance reasons.

I think the VQS is more for the Tamiya RC collector or fanatic. Or maybe someone who wanted it back in the day and never got a chance to own it. Or someone who wants it for nostalgic reasons. Those are all good reasons. So no matter the price, the cost will always be insignificant for some folks. I cancelled my order because it seemed like an impulsive decision—and I already have an Egress, and I don't really have any sentimental feelings towards the Vanquish/VQS. And, I would rather get a used NIB Top Force over the VQS.

Yes, it seems either Tamiya or Seller is pumping the price for the Nostalgica effect (Collector) , when i now look closer at the Kit and read the feedback in this post this seem to be the case. That is a bit suprising to me because most of the Kits are priced after Quality of the kit itself as long as Tamiya can deliver to Sellers. If you look at Top-Force i got one for 198 GBP so the price tag on VQS is one of the few that i find waaay off.

I have to justify (these days) why I should have any rc kit simply because of lack of space in my collection corner of my life and when this was officially announced i thought excellent I'm up for that one! the original one appeared when real life (real work, mortgage, children etc etc) came along so I didn't really take much notice of it other than thinking it was a very good looking buggy👌 so you then start thinking about how much its probably going to be priced at and I was looking at the avante/egress and thinking (at the time) they were around the £430ish so I'm going for £240 at the most so I was kinda shocked when the price was announced and I've been trying to justify buying one but I just can't to the extent I've been looking at the pictures on certain shop websites and had my fingers over the buy button but no it's just to overpriced for what it is and last night I watched gavin (rc kicks) started his build and I can't see were the money is with it??
