Dark Impact no reverse drive

Recommended Posts

I bought this second hand a year ago and finally got around to trying to fix the issues. One of the majors was no drive from the rear gear box. when I pulled it apart the diff gear had completely failed, so a new gear and rebuild later, yay! I have drive again.

On the downside, when I try and reverse I just hear what sounds like the motor freewheeling, no contact is being made on anything. Which I don't understand, if the motor pinion is driving the gear forward, why when it spins in reverse would it be any different? I've never had a ball diff before so might be missing something.

Any help appreciated.

Is there a , one way fitted ?

They are like a rachet, they drive one way, and free wheel the other, people fit them, to help turn the car in on a corner (fronts free wheel under braking/reverse, so just the rear brakes, and handbrake turns into a corner)

That would mean the the rear diff is slipping too though. What grease did you use in the diff? If it's not ball diff grease , it'll just slip.

Not the DF03 diff, but some helpful info.
