After already (Re-) building my first (Grasshopper II) and second (Manta Ray) RC-Car, it was time for my third one. After these offroaders I started onroad Racing with the legendary TA-02 chassis almost 25 years ago. Onroad cars seemed to be much more expensive at these days, so it took a long long time in the 90`s until I got mine. It was the TA-02 with the Opel Calibra body. Over the years I equipped it with a lot of Hop-Ups. Finally it got even the carbon deck.

Unfortunately it had been sold 15 years ago. Always regret this decision…

So I started to collect all the items needed for rebuilding, including the original 90s Calibra Body Set. Also added some more tuning parts to the shopping cart like the original Tamiya ball bearings with Tamiya gravure printing on it. Simply love these details…

I even got my hand on the Team Orion Motor I had used at these times, so the car really becomes an Rebuild.

The building itself was a real pleasure, all these memories came up and even when you think this can`t be topped, the finishing of the body makes me feel in the 90`s again. Only difference to my formerly Calibra is that I have changed the drivers. Honour to whom honour is due.

Here we go:

And all you need for this build is a TA-02 and a little bit of this:

This is exactly how the Tamiya addiction started for me back then.

Got a Calibra in exact same state, regret selling it ever since.

Bought all these parts too over the last few years and now everything is here to start building my first Tamiya again. Just need the time to do.

Only difference, I got a LRP DTM Special Motor which I used in the 90's. But love the Orion too.

Thank you for sharing these pictures.

Awesome car, great job. I have a soft spot for the TA01/02 and this is a great example, especially with that carbon chassis, it's a thing of beauty.
