Those ARE pics of real car, not possible to get a 1/12 with that sort of detail photo'd that close, even down to chips to paintwork??

Yes, you are right I guess.

The first pic shows way thinner bodywork on the vents as on the model.

I am possibly tricked by the lightning, looks like "model lightning"...

It is possible but no one has that patience, I'm sure now.

On the focussing: it IS possible.

Just put the camera past the "f-factor" and zoom in (optically).

That way, you can get everything in focus...

No, I was not pulling a fast one, I've seen such modelling on 1/32 aircrafts but not as good as this one.

With photo etched parts, anything is possible.

The second and fifth pic made me wonder too...

Well, I said it's "unbelievable" so I put it up here.

Glad we sorted that out.

Well done scale kit, a good amount detail. But there is hardware that is NOT in scale, and the fuel-cell is NOT a real.

Yes, it is.[:)]

I have a 935 static kit and this one is way different from the one in the kit.

Btw, it's fiberglass.

After looking closely at the photos, I think you guys are right about it being the real car.  That seller is misleading his buyers into thinking the photoecth kit is going to reproduce those results.

I don’t think that this image is of a 1/12 scale, it just might be even larger something like 1/4 or maybe 1/6. What's bugging me is the size of the bolts around the pillow ball and on the strut bar, if it this was a true 1/1 the size of the bolts would be around 20-24mm if not larger. It just doesn't look right.

Oh BTW look at the size of the rivets in relation to the pull-pin, the rivets would have to be 1" or even larger!

Looking at the pictures I am not 100% sure it is of the real car. I agree that some of the parts don't look 100% real, they do look like model parts. Unless someone can come forward who is into this level of detail on 1/12th models I think we could debate the model not model question forever.

Either way they are amazing pictures for reference.

I think the lightning is the tricky part here.

Indeed, the bolts seem rather large but look at the strut top (pic 2), defenately for real!!!

The only picture that wonders me is the catch pin (pic 4) but then again, the rivets are very realistic!

The ring is not 100% round so it doesn't flip open during driving (old style which is correct).

Now can you imagin' I was tricked the very first time?

Still, a few among us still are...lol!

This is what I meant about detail:

It's a 1/32 F/A-18C "Hornet" so imagin' what possibilities there are when doing a 1/12 model, 3 times bigger...

Another "Madman"....:

Scale 1/48 F-4E (F?) "Phantom"...

It took me half an hour to view the whole topic and it's worth every single page, promise!

Wow Dee,

This is exceptional x100. Thanks for bringing it to the attention of the forum. I don't think i am making an overblown statement by saying this guy has talent on par with the the worlds top artists, past and present. This makes restoring an srb look as challenging as throwing a rock at a wall. (no offence intended!)

Everyone should view this thread in awe.

Cheers,

Hi,

so iam also not shure if this is a real car but for the photo side i

can says that its easy to take such pics on a model. All you need is a

standart SLR Cam (Mirror system), either analog or digital.and a macro

lens.I did this for some nice flowershots. You take the Cam very near to

the objekt (around 2-4 cm) and shoot.Very simple.A bit tricky is the

light. If you are so near to the model you produce shadows with your Cam

and your Body.Only way out is much light from different directions or a

ringflash mounted at the end of the lens.Take a look here for macro

lense and ring light examples:
