I agree. We have a new batch of Fighting Buggy and Egress. Two re-releases of classic bodies, Opel and Ford Cosworth. New Ford GT body. Ford Escort Mk2.  Top Force..  add the fact the world is in a big mess financially... and Mr. Tamiya just gave us RC crack addicts a huge gift 🤤

Well...quiet would have meant spending less than £500. I've already spent £250 on the Mk2 Escort kit and 3 bodysets and its not even February.

By the end of May that figure will now be getting close to £1000.

We will probably have the Optima Mid announced after that so there's another £300. Not even joking either....I can see it happening. It is definitely due a re-release.

Personally, I'm pretty excited. I never had the option to buy a Top Force Evo (too young), so definitely looking forward to picking one up. Same for the Thunder Dragon. The tracked TT-02 looks cool, though as others have noted, I will wait until I see pricing. 

Question - for those of us in the US, do we have any idea when any of these will show up for pre-order on Towerhobbies? (And if they all will or only certain kits).

I'm still confused about the Egress; I've pre-ordered one yesterday but there is still no mention of the release on any Tamiya site....why would that be?

Quick edit just incase anyone knows,

Is the evo the exact same spec as the original? Just wondering because a few bits on it don't look quite right in the photos, does anyone know if it has titanium screws and the correct evo ball diffs?

Good question.  Tower listed the VQS pre-order rather quickly after announcement...like maybe that day or next, but there's still no Egress despite the announcement several days ago.  I would hope they do get all the announced kits, there's limited outlets in the US for these kits as far as I know.

In my opinion and it’s my opinion... Any buggy that Tamiya released after Hotshot / Egress era is not worth my hard earned money... eg Manta ray, Top Force, Dark Impact etc.. they lack innovation, brittle abs plastic tubs, have weak drive line, not efficient, and look like they’re from Mars. 

Avante / Egress are out there in design but I respect their over engineering efforts. I didn’t pull the trigger on Egress 7 years ago.. maybe this time I will.

I save my money for major re-releases like SRB series, Bruiser. I hold out hopes for Hilux / Blazing Blazer, 959, 934/935 and darn you Tamiya.. I want my holiday buggy rear tires back!

Are you implying the Hotshot era buggies do not have issues with brittle plastic, weak drive line and not efficient drive line? 

Thunder-shot had a lot of issues with brittle plastic.  The Mantaray was a step forward in most areas, especially chassis and drive line durability.  The Mantaray still had a sucky steering linkage that let it down IMO.

Hotshot was made in 1985, still an era that is very nostalgic and has unique design to appeals to old timers like me.  The quirkiness was part of its character. 

Mantaray came 5 years later 1990. In those 5 years we had the evolution of the RC10, Ultima, Optima, Schumacher Cat. So when I look at the Mantaray, with its asymmetric prop shaft,  shiny peanut brittle plastic shock towers.. I just cringe.  Flash forward 10 years later and there was the dark impact which was still ill conceived. Again, it’s my opinion.. we all have kits that are dear to us. So I’m not trying to pick a fight... I’m simply saying, I will not spend $0.01 on re-re of those kits.

SRB/Hilux/blazing blazer/959 quoted above are nice builds (not built srb or 959 personally) but from general opinion over the years they also have poor chassis (959) or poor performance (all of them) in comparison to other cars.

Hotshot/boomerang/thundershot/manta ray are also nice builds but performance is much better, my original  thundershot rebuild runner has had approx. 160 hours of run time since 2014 and there have been parts that need changing but certainly not brittle plastic.

You can argue that the blazer is better than thundershot because it's a better build and materials are nicer and it's designed for trailing around etc...but I have a cc-02 as well and compared to the blazer I had, it wipes the floor with it on trails (it should though being much later)

All these arguments have a context, I once again just trying to balance out the discussion.

Most Tamiya buggies seem not to like 'modern' jumps etc although the db-01 was probably more capable.

Stay on the ground, do small jumps undulations, avoid crashing, run with appropriate motor speeds for the chassis and you'll find tamiyas will last many years of running......

Want fast brushless capable speeds and more? Go with other manufacturers!

I’m not implying they were better or more durable. The 80s cars get a hall pass from me for all their flaws. SRBs / 3 Speeds were more about scale realism’s in chassis and body. Wild one / FAV were the same.  More or less they were the first / second generation.  They have character and that goes a long way in my pocket book 😉

I think they need a mid level design, such as the TA / TB cars. Eg for Tamiya to extend the concept design from M07/TA07/TB05 to a new buggy platform. Utilise quality carbon infused plastic for durability. Tighter tolerance drive train with derlin gears.

I agree with everything you wrote.   I haven't bought a re-release boomerang yet, but that has more to do with parts availability than the design issues.
