If your like me and run this thing lots but still care about the appearance of it your probably repainting it once every 1-2 seasons. So my question is, is it worth sanding it down or using some kind of paint remover and repainting or easier to just replace the body each time?.... but it’s not just the paint that gets scraped up it actually scars the white abs plastic or whatever it’s made out of... which isn’t that big of deal I guess to me if I sand and repaint. Also is there a 1/12 Lexan body option for the lunchbox so the paint stays nice looking after wipeouts. If so I’m guessing you don’t use the chrome bumpers and grill anymore because there’s nowhere to screw them in anymore?

i know right?  When my LB rolls over I can see all the colors of the preious paint jobs including the white raw body.  I might just tape off those two top rails and hit it was some yellow spray paint  or not worry about it

Has this been modded ? . The rear track looks a lot wider than the front or is it the angle of the shot  ? . You could try adding a spring spacer to the front dampers springs like on the rears to stiffen up the front to stop the front dipping in corners

This is Lucas’s thread. I don’t want to hi jack it.  But if I must

there are a couple mods on here like the rear suspension mounts and the twister motor and oil filled shocks that I did BITD  Other than that it’s pretty stock, the wider look must have been an illusion, the width is stock  but it does look jacked in the back doesn’t it?

To be honest I have no idea. I assume these were a hop up kit offered in the 80’s to replace the stock basic springs.

Must have been a Tamiya product.

These are Tamiya CVA's . I think these were around 85mm long at back and 80mm at front

Yeah the pack of 4 that come in a bag that are discontinued, hard to find.

Which ones exactly? There is tons online but a lot aren’t 1/10 or 1/12 scale and a lot are 90-110mm which is way to long!... ideally I think you want 75-85mm and the shorter on the front. A lot of these brands dont offer those sizes and is there some screwing around you need to do to make them bolt up also. I’d just like a pic of some that we know that are tried and tested that fit and work great.. some appear to have bigger holes that might not fit in the ball mounts or require using screws and nuts but might have to drill the mount hole bigger, if someone could provide that it would be awesome and much appreciated.

I bought Ansmann for one of them and I'll see if I can find the info one the other . Both sets came with alternative lower ends to shorten by 5mm if needed .

Couldn’t find the Ansmann on Amazon but found a set of these for a decent price.

Good to know... and how do you like them? Do they come pre oiled? And the bottoms press on to the ball stud or do you have screws with nuts mounting the bottom? And those are the 85’s I assume? Sorry lots of questions & hard to see. I often wondered how short you could go with the lunchbox shocks so the center of gravity is lower.

I'm  happy with them for the price.  The have a dribble of oil in them . I emptied them out and used Tamiya medium oil. The swivels came loose on mine and just press in , then bolt through.

I ordered 4 in an 85, should be here by Friday.... can’t really find any info or reviews on them tho. Did you have to buy extra hardware to mount them? I have the 4 left over “U” brackets in the kit still and some of the screws and nuts that were left from the build.
