Well That WILL upset everyone trying to gain mega money for Cossie body shells.

But its not the cossie, more like a later version RS or XR3. The Cossie isn't a Cossie without an in your face Whaletail on the back

Big idiot spoilers are easy to retrofit and plenty of people 3d print them.

The spoiler is one of the differences between the Mk5 and the Mk6 (rally cars).

It's not an original Escort RS cosworth, it's the later Escort RS WRC.

Very different from the Cosworth.

Ford never made a road version not officially anyway.

If it was a release of the original, old nib body sets would tumble in price but decal sets would shoot up in value.

It looks to me like any other white R2 rally replica.

the official rally wrc cars are R5 and the lower classed street versions are R2.

examples.

I remeber as a child looking at the 58112 TA01 and TGB Escort in Germany... I always wanted to own one. Now imagining looking at such cars new in box at a shop seems unrealistic. Since here are now shops near. This is a pleasant release since as said the spoiler can be printed- I like the tamiya street car series a lot, 2x Porsche's and now this...

EDIT:

NEXT I would like to see something not yet seen. Like a Spoon Racing Honda Integra Type R ? we had the accord, accord aero, crx, the civic EG and R2, newer integra, but not yet a old 96 Integra. In my expirience the spoon integra is quite famouse same as the jazz or fit.

If the size of a spoiler isn't at least 40% the size of the car it's not big enough!

Yes, this is the Escort WRC. It's the same thing they did with the 911 GT2, 911 GT1, Honda Accord etc, exactly the same body as the racing version just without the sponsor stickers. I'm hoping that this means the availability of undrilled bodies, like we had with the Audi A4 recently.

It should encourage some variation like we've seen with the "Street" versions of the Porsches too.

Seeing the WRC again rather than the Cosworth does seem to add credibility to the rumour that the Cosworth mould was modified to make the WRC. I'm sure the Cosworth is the more desirable and would make a better seller. Unless they are hoping to sell a load of these before they re-re the Cosworth? Like they've done with the Top Force - sell that then sell the same people an Evo later.

The original (Tamiya) Ford Cosworth had a different front. So placing the whale spoiler on the RS WRC body does not look right.

Similar to the previous release, the front fenders still look like the regular Cosworth fenders. On the Escort WRC, there should be a bump in the center of the wheelarch.

Nevertheless, I'll probably get a body.

I wonder why Tamiya chose not to sell this on the TA-01 chassis?

Because they finally ran out of parts at the factory of the ta01
