6WD Clod-Like Truck Plowing Snow

Recommended Posts

Here is a video of my 6WD / 6WS RedClod! I think I have all the bugs worked out of it.

Holmes Hobbies 45T 550 brushed motors

Team Tekin RS4 ESC

Three Holmes Hobbies servos for steering, all on one channel.  They each have about 600-oz of torque!

One Holmes Hobbies servo for lifting the plow blade.

(The Holmes servos are all powered directly by the 12 volt NiMH battery)

RC4WD Twister servo for angling the plow blade.

T-Maxx shocks

JConcepts Firestorm Tires mounted on RC4WD Delrin wheels

Now the question is: should I get a longer chassis and attempt an 8WD / 8WS truck?

That’s cool!  Can’t advise on the 8wd/s part, but there should be real trucks to emulate for the cab/body!

I just had this splendid idea: I want to add leaf-springs to this truck.  How can I do that?

There are plenty of leaf spring kits for 1:10 crawlers, but I don't know if they would give enough height and travel for a clod sized rig. You might have to fashion your own.

The plow control mechanism was from a guy on Ebay:  https://www.ebay.com/itm/Aluminum-rc-Snow-Plows-kit-for-TAMIYA-1-10-4x4x4-Clodbuster-Bullhead-Monster/171096949476

But I replaced the blade with a much bigger one, and with more of a frame too. My blade was 3D printed by a genius friend of mine.

I have also added a working salt spreader on my truck. It's a Scott's handheld grass-seed spreader that I wired to a switch and then to my radio:

6wd clods are fun.

Very nice!  I saw this before on Youtube.  Your truck is FAST!!!

I'm using three Holmes Hobbies 45T 550 brushed motors on 12 volt NiMH. All run by a Team Tekin ESC. I'm actually thinking of building an 8x8, with a tridem axle setup in the rear.
