Hi again! I've mentioned that I'm also heavy into Crawlers - but haven't shared any... Yet. So I'll start with this one. 😉

This is my Axial Wraith, purchased in 2010... spacer.png

spacer.png Nearly finished, with the "Fastback Mod" done to the Rear of the Cage.

spacer.png The Hood (Bonnet), I wanted to open and close easily, because I also moved the Battery up front. To reinforce the Lexan Hood, I used .060" Styrene Sheet...

spacer.png The Hood, painted in Spaz Stik Root Beer, before the Backing Coat. It will be Epoxied to the Styrene.

spacer.png This is the Forward Battery Mod. It sits neatly right in front of the Windscreen.

spacer.png

This is essentially how I accomplished that. Simply a piece of .020" Styrene Sheet, bent into an L Shape. Almost like it was MADE for it! 😊

Mounting the Hood......

spacer.png The Hinges mounted to the Hood Frame, around the Cage Bar - using Wire Loom Clamps.

Getting the Forward Battery Mod to work, required some relocation...

spacer.png To accomplish this, I moved the ESC and its Mount to behind the Gearbox, under the Interior.

spacer.png The Wrath Interior was ahead of its time when it came out!! 😁

spacer.png Fitted in the Cage (Chassis), it hides most of the Mechanical Guts - and looks GREAT. I've actually used this Interior in other Truck Builds.

spacer.png He's an 8" Figure, because the Wrath is actually 1:8th Scale, even though it's sold as "1:10th Scale". 😉

The back looked a bit sparse.....

spacer.png Out back, I used a Radiator Set from the Axial EXO Terra - Axial's only failure!! 😜

spacer.png Mounted it with two 3x8mm Screws on top, and stuck the lower Bar through holes in the Links I used to make the Fastback Mod.

spacer.png I then used 12 gauge Wire, covered in Red Shrink Tubes, to extend the "Hoses" under the Interior.

spacer.png From this side you can see the other Hose, and the Fuel Filler Tube, coming up from the Fuel Cell from a Vaterra Ascender.

Thank you so much Guys!!!  Crawlers actually got me BACK into the Hobby, after a hiatus from 1994. I was a Semi Pro Buggy Racer.... And everything I loved about the early Models - VANISHED by about 1991. At least at the competitive level. EVERYTHING became UGLY Blobs on Flat Carbon Fiber Chassis. All the personality was gone.

Sadly - I had NO IDEA that the Touring Car revolution was just getting started, and I MISSED it all. 😞😭😭  So I'm catching up Now - at 3X the original cost! 😖

Anyway, Crawlers brought SCALE realism back to the Hobby, and drew me back. Sadly it was at a time when we basically LOST everything. But on a shoestring budget with generous Help from a couple of amazing individuals (WHO, now that I'll be back on top, will be reimbursed - and then some!!)😉

I'll try to get my other Trucks up as well. I've got 2 SCX10 IIs, one a Unimog, a GIFT from Wounded Warriors!! Another I built from bits, and a SCX10 One, that I've been modifying to an almost unrecognizable point since I got it in 2009!

Looking good. All I have done to mine is sort the servo out so it does not catch on full squish

There's SO many things you can do if you wanted! IMO, the Wrath was the most capable Off-Road Rig made - until just 2 years ago! 😁

Nice looking Wraith @Carmine A. Have you got a HH motor in there? Spotted the roof sticker!

Your battery placement and hose mods remind me of JennyMo and Accel on here, I like the way the Wraith can be a little more 'scale'.

I like the Wraith style but cheaped out and bought an FTX Outlaw. Its a hoot but I'm already planning transmission swap to make it more Axial-like.

BTW, glad that you are doing okay mate. I was going to ask did you get a FF? And if so how's that?

Things ARE finally improving!! 😁 Thank you so much!

Thanks!!! I've been modifying and detailing Crawlers like that for years. 😊 Probably as long or longer than @JennyMo or maybe @ACCEL I just haven't taken the time to post them here yet....

Something I'm trying to correct!!

Yes, I always use Holmes Hobbies Motors in my Crawlers. This one's Brushless - back when I still had money....

I have no answer as to why I haven't dug in too deeply yet with my Tamiya Builds... Mostly ZERO Budget - but that's about to change also!! 😉

Nice Wraith :) that's the area of scaling that I missed out on, I started with an SCX10 (after a few stalled attempts to build Pede/TLT homebrews on Reign K2-3S chassis).  The Wraith was always that bit more hardcore, and seeing yours looking as scale and real as that is making me want to find an old one to modify.

Thanks for the kind words!! They're out there, not easy to find but out there. I'm sure you can find one, and do some Magic on it!! 😊

Looks great!
Crawling is what got me back in the hobby also.

Since then had a lot of different cars and ended with a TRX4
