It's sort of related to the M-chassis, but does anyone know if the Abarth 1000 TCR body would be possible to build with the hood closed? And also, are the tyres sizes front and rear different (55 front (?) and rear 60 mm)?

Yes to the wheels and probably yes to the engine cover. You would have to trim the big tab off to make it fit though!

Please do let me know if you come back :)

I just rotated tires so i can get another pack or so worth of tires..

Also, I heard that local rc community is trying to set up indoor mini z track soon… which i am excited about (because of the weather in winter as you know)

I certainly will! Still a project, but we are seriously considering coming back. After 3 years in Arizona - don't laugh - I miss the rain! I have actually built my rally car so as to be reasonably waterproof. Still waiting for that rainy day here!

I absolutely love 1:27 scale but my car is a GLA which would only enter the open class at most clubs... And that's way above my driving skills 😅

What part of Arizona? I'm way down in the southeast corner....we get rain when it happens.

So I've decided to pull out my M03 and get her up and running. Has a sport tuned motor and some really old and rare alloy bits on her but I've noticed I've hit a bit of a snag on the ressurection.  I have all Tamiya hop ups on it but I have no servo arms/adjusters( I can't for the life of me remember parts names anymore).  It seems the ball tops are too small for anything in the past and I don't have any hobby shops nearby and nobody carries Tamiya spares out here.

So if I remember correctly I have the flourine coated shocks, front and rear sway bars, full tamiya bearings, front alloy hubs, tamiya cvd's and probably the hardened gears.  Man she was fun to race around.

The colour is called Ceramic Metallic and is silver and white mixed. White in some lights silver in others. Going to be interesting to replicate as I intend, like you to get an ND body for my MB01 and do a mini me version. Going to put the Abarth on an M08.

It's.a great color, it looks great.   I suppose it's cooler than a pearl white but warmer than silver.

Is the M08's front track width adjustable?  I found that the XM1S is not in stock form (XM1 Competition has vertical and horizontal roll center adjustment for both front and rear) but was able to find the last of the hopups needed to make the front adjustable on my XM1S.  wheeww.. I had to buy from 2 different sources to make the set and they are basically all out of stock (discontinued) now..

Everyone seems to be happy with the M08 so it sounds like a good choice.  :D

I have a feeling Tamiya Japan is ignoring me now as I pointed out about fitment issue on the MB01 on instagram.  :D  haha.   Hey I'm not sponsored in any way... everything I have is paid out of my pocket so if I'm not happy people will hear about it.

That said, my next m-chassis will probably be Xpress's shaft driven Arrow AM1 Competition, but it is 225mm wheelbase.  I will not make the mistake of not buying two next time for sure..  I think I want to do another ND body..  those cars look so good.  You should see Kogawa-san's daughter's car.. I think she tracks the car (seriously).

Here's my big question, how in the world do your front tires still have so much tread on them?!

Had to go to the track for m03 maiden run.

I really like this better than m05. More planted.

However had to cut the session short due to broken stock plastic servo saver. Time to replace it with high torque one.

(Different chassis same shell)

The M03s easier to work on too, my own M05 is pretty planted but it's far from stock.

They were in the rear and when you're racing carpet the rears didn't need much grip.  I was also a beta tester with the Castle Creations Mamba.....that may have been a factor lol

So you like the M03 better than the M05? Have you tried a even numbered M aka rear wheel drive?  I've been debating on getting the MB01 so I can do both.

I like the M05 more, the front shocks mounts are sturdier and the rear servo mount means better weight distribution.

I've tried a few M06s, they drive nice (like road going 2wd buggies), but I didn't like working on them much. Most M04s (and anything older) will be too old and brittle for me to take a risk with.

I will say that while FWD M chassis are fun, I would prefer a well sorted RWD chassis. Something with an M08 setup (and "good" plastic), but simpler and more unprepped asphalt friendly.

The MB01 should be easier to build/work on than an M06, and it's made from a better plastic (rubbery ABS vs peanut brittle). My main concerns are the wonky weight distribution with the motor location, and the suspension arms.

Just ordered an M08 and an MX5 ND bodyset. Body to go on the MB01 and hopefully get the Abarth to fit the M08🤞🏻

The M08R chassi you can adjust in 3 lenght’s (im sure its the same with M08), so I believe that gives higher odds

The issue with the 1000 TCR body is the wide track of the front wheels..  wheel base is a standard 210mm..

So without knowing what the M08's front track width is, it is just a hit or miss..   My guess is that the width is not adjustable on the M08, so one would need to rely on thinner hex hubs and wheel choice (and potentially shaving the back side of wheels) to make it work.

I agree it may be a loosing battle but I’ll have a go. It’s a shame as the body is a masterpiece!!! If it doesn’t work I may try it on a fwd chassis to use it!!!

Yes, definitely worth a try for certain!

There's got to be a quick and easy way to shave off some of the plastic on the back side of the 1000 TCR wheels... then one can use a 4mm or less hex hub and tuck the front wheels in a good amount.   I saw that at one point there were 3mm thickness hex hubs available on the internet for drift folks.. but I can't find those anywhere...  hummm...

.. meanwhile MB01 #2 lost it's receiver to my XM1S and even though 2 new Futaba receivers came in today, I'm not sure I care to run MB01 #2 with the Mini Cooper body on it anymore.

Any recommendations on m chassis wheels for track? I am using kit wheels which i am happy about, but curious if there are any recommendations…

Rush (RUS-0488) pre-glued wheels and tires are supposed to be good.
